A unique property has impressed potential buyers thanks to its nostalgic interior - which looks like it could be featured in Anthony Burgess' Clockwork Orange.

Located in Parbold, West Lancashire, the three-bedroom house comes adorned with bright orange sofas, thick shaggy carpets, and a circular fireplace reminiscent of the 70s. Estate agents at The Modern House, who listed the property, say it was built back in 1968 and has been 'wonderfully preserved'.

Designed by the late architect Anthony Grimshaw, the quirky property was listed at £475,000 last year - around £26,000 lower than average prices in the area. So, it's no surprise that offers started quickly coming in.

Perched on top of a small hill, a set of stone steps lead up past a large garage, with a glass box frontage sitting above the ground floor level. The main living room is decorated with a long, four-seat orange sofa in front of a matching coffee table and wooden wall unit, with two leather chairs at the far end to take in the views from the floor to ceiling windows.

The room opens up into a dining area with brass panelling, stonework and a period light fitting, with a frosted glass door and windows separating it from the kitchen. It's easy to understand why this property is no longer on the market.

White cabinets and wood countertops in the kitchen look like they have come straight from the pages of a 1970s cookbook, with plates used to decorate the glass wall. In the bathroom, there's dark marble effect tiling, with gold taps, a gold shower head, and white fittings.

The listing on The Modern Home website read: "Occupying a quiet, elevated position in the sought-after village of Parbold, internal accommodation of just over 1,800 sq ft is set over three storeys, with living areas arranged across the upper levels drawing on fantastic views across the treetops. Reaching the open market for the first time in over forty years, Beech Hill is replete with original details and offers great scope for further renovation. Situated on the edge of the South West Lancashire plain, the house is surrounded by rolling countryside, skirted by the meandering River Douglas.

"The architectural profile of the house is characterised by its striking asymmetry and cantilevered, glass-fronted façade, protruding from its leafy backdrop to maximise the views and excellent natural light. A private driveway leads up to a large double, electric garage and the primary entrance; a glass-fronted hall set beneath the under croft."
