Inside BRIT Awards host Maya Jama's stunning home and impressive net worth
Maya Jama will be back on screens this weekend hosting the 2024 BRIT Awards - alongside co-hosts Clara Amfo and Roman Kemp.
This year marks a 10-year anniversary for 29-year-old Maya as a presenter - having burst onto the scene in 2014 as the host of Maya’s FIFA World Cup Cities for a football media business company shortly before she enlisted as an MTV presenter. In the decade since, she has gone on to be one of the biggest names in presenting - helming iconic shows including Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer, Glow Up: Britain's Next Make-Up Star, and of course Love Island.
Maya has also been a panellist on Loose Women and has enjoyed success as a model, designed a collaboration for PrettyLittleThing, worked with brands including JD Sport and Kurt Geiger, and she launched her own make-up brand, MIJ Masks, in 2020. On Saturday night, fans will be able to tune in to the BRIT Awards and watch Maya preside over the ceremony - which will air via ITV from 8:30pm.
Maya has come a long way since moving to London from the West of England and has built an impressive bank balance in the process. She has previously shown fans around her home - which is almost as glamorous as the Love Island villa.
Net worth
It’s not just an impressive career that Maya has built over the past decade, she’s also amassed an enviable fortune. The TV star is of Somali and Swedish descent and was named after poet Maya Angelou after her mother read one of the late American star’s works while expecting the presenter.
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesShe moved to London from Bristol when she was just 16 years old to start pursuing her TV hosting dreams - initially making content for her YouTube channel before moving on to helm shows for JumpOff TV and then MTV. She also branched into radio broadcasting, hosting a show on BBC Radio 1 and landing modelling work with high street brands.
Her biggest gig is hosting Love Island - a role she has held since Laura Whitmore quit the series in 2023. She also took over hosting BBC Three’s Glow Up, taking over from Stacey Dooley. With so much high-profile work, Maya reportedly became a millionaire by the time she was 24 and is now believed to be worth more than £3 million.
London home
After building up a sizeable bank balance, Maya splashed out on a new home last year - that she allowed fans to see via social media. The star shared photos and video clips of her London house, writing: “Moving into the new house I bought this week. I don't think I'll ever be a house insta page person but wanted to share the tiniest bit with you (haven't done it up yet but I like the chair spot).”
Her photos and video clips showed huge floor-to-ceiling windows, granting plenty of natural light to the abode. And she had impressive hallways that she walked through as a camera followed her.
The multi-story property had plenty of in-built storage space and spotlight lighting in the ceilings. The star shared footage and photos from the property before she had bought it, so the possessions seen inside did not belong to the TV star.
BRIT Awards host
Earlier this month it was confirmed that Maya would host the 2024 Brit Awards alongside 39-year-old Clara and 31-year-old Roman. The awards show will celebrate the freshest music of the past twelve months and will include performances from huge chart stars.
Discussing her excitement at becoming a host, Maya said: “I'm really excited to be hosting The BRIT Awards alongside Clara and Roman. I’ve worked alongside the incredible team at the BRITs for years now and it’s something I always watched, and wanted to be a part of, growing up - so it’s amazing to be on the stage this year hosting it! It’s always one of the best nights of the year for me, and a real celebration of British music, culture, and talent.”
Music fans will see Kylie Minogue, Raye, Dua Lipa and Ellie Goulding take to the stage to perform during the awards show. Meanwhile, major stars including Ed Sheeran, and Taylor Swift and bands like Blur and Chase & Status will battle for awards such as Best Pop Act, British Artist of the Year, and British Album of the Year.
