Meghan Markle's pal spills all on how they developed an 'immediate connection'

Meghan Markle was praised by Abigail Spencer

Abigail Spencer had nothing but kind words to say about her pal Meghan Markle as she shared the story of how they met.

The pair have been very close friends for the last 17 years and even worked together on the hit legal drama Suits. Abigail later attended Meghan's wedding to Prince Harry and was a guest at her New York City baby shower in 2019.

The friends continue to keep in touch to this day. During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Abigail was asked about her relationship with Meghan and happily spilled all.

"It was 2007, I was doing a pilot for NBC, and I went to read with the people who were supposed to play my best friend," she told the talk show host. "They were testing other actresses. I walk in, I see this beautiful gorgeous creature at the end of the table and I'm like, 'Who is that?'

"We had an immediate something, you know? And her name is Meghan Markle." Abigail also said she bonded with Meghan after realising they share the same birthday.

She added: "It was just something between us. Our friendship really developed during that time, and deepened. She’s an incredible person."

Elsewhere on the show, Abigail admitted Meghan is a huge fan of Kelly and had a special message for the Since You've Been Gone hitmaker. Abigail said Meghan had given her a message for Kelly after she told her pal she'd be appearing on the show.

Abigail said: "Meg says 'hello' and that she loves you and that she voted for you on American Idol." Kelly quickly replied: "It worked!" referencing her success on the competition show back in 2002.

Abigail added that the message from Meghan was "unsolicited". She explained: "This was unsolicited. She did not know I was coming on here. We were just chatting and I was like, 'Oh, I'm going to see Kelly next week,' and she's like, 'I have a message'."
