Leigh Francis has shared some heartbreaking family news to social media and has been supported by his famous friends.

The comedian, also known as Keith Lemon, took to his Instagram page to share that his beloved dog Doris passed away last July.

He explained that she went to "doggy heaven" last year when she was 17-years-old. However, he then went on to explain that he has got a puppy called Olive but joked he felt like he was having an affair.

Alongside a video where he can be seen holding the adorable pup, he wrote: "Meet Olive! Our last dog Doris was 17 and went to doggy heaven in July. Finally got a new dog! It feels like I’m having an affair. She’s a lovely little ginger Cavapoochon. The Francis’ssss are all in love! #olive"

In the video, Leigh can be heard saying: "We finally got a dog, and this is our new dog, it's called Olive. And she's sort of gingery coloured, matches with my beard and sleepy."

Meanwhile, the comment section of the post was flooded with messages of famous faces who commented on how cute little Olive is.

Fellow former Celebrity Juice panelist Holly Willoughby wrote: "Awww olive!!!! Welcome to the Family." As Ashley Roberts simply wrote "Omg" along with heart eye emojis.

Denise Van Outen commented: "Sooooooo cute congratulations," while Eamonn Holmes said: "Ollie …. The best Friend u will EVER have Leigh . Congratulations."

Leigh, who was born and raised in Leeds, tied the knot with his childhood sweetheart Jill back in 2002 at Allerton Castle in North Yorkshire, and the couple have two daughters together, Matilda and Dolly. Unlike her famous husband, beauty therapist Jill prefers to keep largely out of the spotlight.

Leigh was 19 years old when he met Jill, who was 16 at the time, and has said there was 'nothing wrong with them dating' as Jill was 'old enough'.

In an interview with MailOnline, Leigh praised his partner and said he's regularly told that he's 'punching'. "Everyone thinks that we wake up and the comedy starts but it's not like that. She sees the real me, the grumpy me," he said.

"She holds it together for in the family, Jill is an amazing woman." Leigh added that Jill does 'everything' and is 'a brilliant mum'.

The couple live together in North Yorkshire and have never shared photos or details of their children, but have been spotted out and about with them.

In a BAFTA interview years ago, Leigh talked about how much he loves spending time with his wife and children. He said: "I prefer being anyone but me, apart from when I'm at home with my kids."
