Many things you'll have to wait to find out, but other things you might want to know beforehand.

For example, is there a post-credit scene? In other words, is it worth staying until the very end? After the 2hr 47m film you will no doubt be ready to run to the toilet, so here's all you need to know - spoiler free.

Is there a Dune Part 2 post-credit scene?

No, Dune Part 2 doesn't have a post-credit scene. That means you're free to sit back and enjoy the Hans Zimmer score and leave at your leisure. However, it's always encouraged to sit through the credits to see the names of everyone who has worked so hard on the film - but this will no doubt depend on how full your bladder is.

This won't be particularly surprising, as Dune Part 1 didn't have a post-credit scene either, despite a Part 2 always being on the cards, meaning he could have given the audience a glimpse into the future of the franchise.

Villeneuve could have easily included a post-credit scene in Dune Part 2 to hint at where the next potential film could pick up, but it doesn't really seem to be his style. Also, Dune 3 hasn't officially been confirmed by Warner Bros yet, which is why it might be risky to include a post-credit scene. That being said, Dune Part 2 still does a decent amount of work for setting up for the future, so you will definitely be satisfied.

Dune Part 2 wraps up the adaptation of the original novel, but there are still numerous other novels to cover. And after achieving rave early reviews, it would be a huge surprise if another instalment wouldn't come in due course. It remains to be seen whether Dune Part 2 will be a box office success.

Villeneuve has spoken about a potential third film previously. He told CBC Radio Canada: "There is Dune's second book, The Messiah of Dune [aka Dune: Messiah], which could make an extraordinary film. I always saw that there could be a trilogy; after that, we'll see. It's years of work; I can't think of going further than that."

In 2022, Villeneuve said he wouldn't rush into making a third movie. He wrote in Vanity Fair: "I want to make part two as fast as possible, then I will wait a few years - until Timothée Chalamet [who plays Paul Atreides] gets a bit older - to do the final instalment. I've lived with Dune for most of my life. Being patient is part of the journey."

Dune Part 2 is in UK cinemas now, including at Odeon across the country.
