With the boom of BookTok and Bookstagram it's no surprise that people are sharing their thoughts on the latest reads more and more of recent. Not only that but readers are coming out with bookish recipes, accessories and showing off multiple editions of their favourite books that grace their shelves.

While not everyone has the time to spend seemingly reading a book a day and splashing the cash on four editions of the same story, one way book lovers can indulge themselves is with something that is growing increasingly popular. Book boxes.

Whether it's a one off gift, a rolling subscription or a limited edition release that is deemed an absolute must there are plenty of options on the market. Here at the Mirror we've got our book expert Jada Jones to round up some of the best services.

Bookhound

Bookhound is one of the cheapest book boxes we've come across with it seeming to be a standard £9.99 for around £36.96 worth of products. Unlike other boxes on the market Bookhound doesn't come with exclusive covers or book inspired merchandise, it does however contain on average four books to cater to a readers curiosity.

Books are bundled by genre which makes them a great option for gifting the reader in your life. The boxes do see Bookstagram favourites like Tessa Bailey's Hook, Line and Sinker show up so it's definitely worth a browse.

Illumicrate

Illumicrate is arguably one of the most popular book boxes on the market, born in 2015 it was inspired by founder Daphne Tonge's love of reading. Each box aims to inspire and illuminate a reader, typically the books are Science Fiction/Fantasy and aimed at a Young Adult audience. Rest assured that they do alert subscribers of any trigger warnings and give the option to skip a month.

Each box comes with a limited edition hardback book and 4-6 pieces of book inspired merchandise. This has included ceramic book pots, drinkware, stationery, bookmarks and most excitingly replica weapons. This has included Percy Jackson's sword Riptide, Kestrel's dagger from The Winner's Trilogy and Cortana from the Shadowhunters world.

Illumicrate is £29 (monthly), £84 (3 month), £165 (6 month) plus shipping & VAT if applicable for the full box subscription. For those just after the book it is £20 (monthly), £58 (3 month), £115 (6 month) plus shipping & VAT if applicable.

FairyLoot

For lovers of YA and Adult Fantasy this is the one to get, it started out in 2016 and has since massively grown. The classic YA monthly box has an exclusive hardcover YA book in a cover you can't otherwise get, an author letter, four themed items, collectible tarot cards and bookmarks. At £27.50 it's quite a bargain and has proven popular.
You can also sometimes nab exclusive covers in the Fairy Trove giftshop and next year a brand new Romantasy box is due to be released. At the minute there are four plans available starting at £20. The Monthly YA Box, YA Book-only, Adult Book-only and Books-only combo subscription.

Afterlight

Afterlight was created to satiate a need in romance lovers that Illumicrate hadn't managed to do with their fantasy box, coming as a bimonthly delivery. The box comes with an exclusive hardback edition of a recently released romance novel, with a cover that you can't get elsewhere. It also typically has sprayed edges and is signed by the author, with an author letter provided alongside exclusive character artwrok.

Not only that but it comes with two to three fandom neutral products that focus on selfcare, in the past it has been bath products, sleep masks, bookmarks and drinkware. It's a great treat for romance lovers.

Afterlight is £20 + shipping & VAT if applicable per box. You can join the waitlist here.
