The Kardashians haven't always been successful

The Kardashians have created a business empire worth more than $2billion (£1.6billion) and fans have been obsessed with the famous family since the start of their reality show back in 2007.

They've had a number of successful ventures, from Kylie Jenner's makeup brand to Kourtney Kardashian's Lemme. Kim Kardashian is the most successful member of the family, with a net worth of $1.7billion (£1.3billion).

However, not every business venture has been successful for the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Matriarch Kris Jenner hosted her own talk show, but it only lasted for one season, while Khloe Kardashian released a perfume range with her now-ex-husband Lamar Odom. Here, we've taken a look at some of the Kardashians' biggest flops over the years.

In November 2010, the Kardashian sisters announced they would be launching a prepaid debit card called the Kardashian Kard. After launching the website for their new project, the sisters quickly took the card off the market.

The reason behind their abrupt decision was the intense criticism they faced for the extremely high fees that came with the card, which was primarily aimed at young teens. The card was a prepaid MasterCard debit card with the Kardashian sisters' picture on the front.

It was created in partnership with Mobile Resource Card and was promoted as a way for parents to monitor their children's spending while teaching them money management skills. However, the cost of the card for the first year was $99.95 (£78.90) which included a one-time card purchase of $9.95 (£7.85), 12 months of monthly fees at $7.95 (£6.30) per month, and preloaded deposit of $5.00 (£3.95).

The fees didn't stop after a person purchased the Kardashian Kard. ATM withdrawals cost $1.50 (£1.20), while using the card cost $2 (£1.60) per item.

There was a 2.5% fee for instant transfers that were made from a credit card or debit card. If someone wanted to add money to the card, it would have been an additional $1 (£0.80). It then cost $6 (£4.75) to close the account.

Khroma Beauty

Kim Khloe and Kourtney looked like they were going to take the beauty world by storm when they released Khroma Beauty in 2012. However, the brand barely lasted a year in stores.

Khroma Beauty was pulled from shelves after it was hit with multiple lawsuits for copyright infringement. Los Angeles-based beauty company Chroma Beauty was the first to threaten a lawsuit.

Then, Florida-based Kroma Beauty sought $10million (£7.9million) in damages for "theft" of its brand name. In March of 2013, the case was brought before a US District Court judge, who issued a preliminary injunction against Khroma Beauty.

The Kardashian company appealed the decision, but the injunction was stayed upon appeal. They then rebranded as Kardashian Beauty, but that wasn't to last.

In May 2015, Kim released Selfish, a book featuring her favourite selfies which had previously been posted on her social media account. The book features travel pictures, family photos, and swimsuit shots as well as some nude snaps.

While Selfish received some positive reviews, not everyone was so kind. At the time of the book's release, it was even described as "a nail in the coffin for artistic photography".

Unbreakable Bond

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom met in August 2009 and got engaged just weeks after meeting. Nine days after getting engaged, they tied the knot in a fancy Beverly Hills ceremony.

During their romance, the pair put on a united front and even had their own TV show. They also released a fragrance called Unbreakable Bond.

Unbreakable Bond was a unisex fragrance and Khloe and Lamar were very proud of their product. "The word unbreakable represents so much about us and I think so many of the relationships we come across every single day," Khloe said at the time of its release.

Their romance didn't last and Khloe filed for divorce in 2013 after reports about Lamar's drug problems. Lamar admitted to being addicted to cocaine and cheating on Khloe. The divorce papers were signed, but in July 2015, Lamar nearly died from an overdose in a Las Vegas brothel.

Khloe decided to briefly pause their divorce when Lamar overdosed and explained that she halted the proceedings so she could make medical decisions for him while he was in a coma for four days. Their divorce was finalised in December 2016.

Kylie and Kendall Jenner wrote a novel called Rebels: City of Indra which was released in 2014. The sci-fi novel followed two super-powered girls who embarked on a journey together.

Rebels: City of Indra got mixed reviews online, with many describing it as a flop. According to the Nielsen BookScan, the sisters' literary debut sold just 13,000 copies in its first few months.

The novel barely made it into Amazon's top 10,000 sales chart, ranking at 9,556. Only 0.05% of their social media followers ended up picking up a copy of their book.

Kris Jenner talk show

Kris Jenner is the person behind the Kardashian-Jenner clan fame, but not everything she's tried has turned out well. In 2013, she hosted a talk show titled Kris which was broadcasted on the Fox network.

The show included celebrity co-hosts such as Ryan Seacrest, Khloe Kardashian and the late Joan Rivers. Kris was delighted to have been given her own show, saying ahead of the launch it "has really been a dream come true for a really long time."

However, after a six-week trial period and 10 episodes, the show was not picked up for a full season and later announced that it was cancelled. Frank Cicha, senior VP and president of programming for the Fox Television Stations, told the Hollywood Reporter Kris was "pretty uninteresting [on camera]." He added that while the ratings weren't "a disaster," it wasn't a show that "made sense for the network".
