It's February 29, and while it's the first time in four years we've been able to write this date in our diaries, many retailers are jumping on the extra day of shopping by offering a flurry of sales. And since the date happens once in a blue moon here are the offers worth taking a look at.

Abbott Lyon, Wowcher, Habitat, Dunelm and New Look have all launched hard-to-beat price drops today, with beauty and cosmetic hotspot LookFantastic offering a landing page solely for the day. It's already proving popular as we've spotted huge price drops on viral products from the summer-scented Sol De Janeiro creams and body sprays to the Yves Saint Laurent foundation.

Home and lifestyle lovers can find up to 50% off at Habitat, with trending pieces of boucle furniture and floral bedding sets appearing just in time for spring. Dunelm's prices start from as little as 50p with staples like wall art, photo frames, mirrors and candles listing for pennies each.

There are huge deals over in the tech section too, and while not officially branded as a leap year sale favoured streaming site Disney+ has dropped an unmissable deal on its Standard with Ads plans, usually costing series lovers £4.99 a month you can pick this up from today for just £1.99 a month - a deal which is only around until March 14.

We could see a handful of new price drops appear throughout the day and we'll keep you updated as we spot. Currently it seems the extra day in the calendar is proving to be a popular past-time for sale hunting consumers.

Wowcher's just dropped a mega deal on Samsung device

  • You can shop the full range of Wowcher Feb 29 leap deals here

Usually known for its £99 Mystery Holiday deals or luck-of-the-draw bundles - where you pay a set price and don't know what you're getting until it turns up at your door - Wowcher is another retailer with a leap year sale on its list.

Samsung fans can pay a fraction of the price, £61 to be exact, for a pre-loved Galaxy Watch. Usually this second-hand model would cost £199.99. While this is different from the deals site usual draw deals we'd recommend it for a young wearer or someone who wants to test it out before they spend hundreds on a brand new Galaxy Watch at the Samsung site.

Skincare lovers, listen up!

For one day, and one day only, with the code FEB29 Lookfantastic fans can get their hands on this Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Multi-Purpose Moisturiser for only £15.61 as opposed to £21.99.

Live as UK retailers launch surprise Leap Year salesEmbryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Nourishing Moisturiser was spotted in the Kardashian's makeup bag (Boots)

Beloved by the likes of Michelle Keegan, the cream is a total multi-tasker and is not only a moisturising hero but also acts as a make-up remover, primer, toner, mask and cream in one go - all whilst providing your skin with vitamins and nutrients for a glowing complexion.

Other creams we're eyeing up that are included in this flash sale are two beloved by Hailey Bieber - the Weleda Skin Food and Avene Cicalfate's Repair cream. The former is enriched with soothing botanical extracts to instantly hydrate and nourish dry skin. Meanwhile the Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream is less than £13 - down from £16 - and isn't just great for your face but also targets those dry patches across your body. It even acts to "protect the skin from further damage caused by environmental aggressors, creating a dressing-like film over the sensitivity. A powerful postbiotic [C-Restore] complex featuring thermal spring water seeks to support the skin’s normal healing process."

Use the code FEB29 on any products from this link to get 29% off - but hurry, because this offer ends at 11pm tonight. To see more deals from Lookfantastic today, check out our round up here.

Another one for beauty fans with 29% off at Debenhams

Live as UK retailers launch surprise Leap Year sales (Marks and Spencer)

Jimmy Choo fragrances, the best of Benefit make-up goodies, the Iconic Illuminator and Olaplex hair treatments - these are just a few of our favourite things spotted in its sale. Not only is this a rare February 29 deal but as the highstreet recently closed its doors on the stores these online deals are a great find.

The Ariana Grande Cloud scent is discounted to £23.43 from an original £53, the Jimmy Choo Blossom is 29% off (perfect for floral lovers) and the popular Alien Goddess by Mugler now starts at £47 opposed to the usual £95.

Benefit products are heavily featured too, as today's leap day may just be one of the best times to stock up (I've got the Precisely My Brow in my online basket). The Team Magnet Mascara is £9 cheaper today, while the summer-kissed-like Hoola Matte Powder Bronzer can be picked up for £23.

Live as UK retailers launch surprise Leap Year salesThe Revolution Pro Miracle Cream is now even more affordable - but only for today (Revolution Pro)

Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Cream is a much-loved staple for many makeup fans but at £79 a bottle it doesn't suit everyone's budget. Not to worry, as LookFantastic has reduced the price of a very popular product, that users say is very similar.

The Revolution Pro Miracle Cream is now £7.10 if LookFantastic shoppers use the code Feb29 at checkout, just one of many sought-after products in the retailer's leap day sale.

Our beauty writer Eve Rowlands has hand-picked some of the best finds in todays price drops: Lookfantastic sale sees nearly 30% off brands loved by Hailey Bieber and Michelle Keegan.Including the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Multi-Purpose Moisturiser.

Craft beer bundles for one day only

Live as UK retailers launch surprise Leap Year salesSeven Bro7hers brewing company has launched Leap Day deals (Seven Bro7hers brewing company)

Fans of craft beer rejoice, there's a leap year day deal just for you, even if (like me) you missed out on Brewdog's 29 beers for £29 offer after they sent out their email this morning

Seven Bro7hers brewing company is not only marking the day with some big savings but, unlike the Brewdog offer, the sale is 29% off everything so you can pick your preferred brew rather than sticking with a curated box.

From pale ales to IPAs, lagers to stout there are dozens of different options which can be bought from kegs to single cans - including quirky flavours like honeycomb, watermelon alongside traditional favourites.

There's also free delivery over £49 and the deal is live until midnight on Monday. We'll drink to that.

Our perfume pick is this Estee Lauder one at M&S

Live as UK retailers launch surprise Leap Year salesThe Estee Lauder Youth Dew can be found for a fraction of the price (M&S)

Sweet florals mixed with a hint of spiced wood, if that sounds like the scent for you M&S is the retailer to head to. As it's taken £20 off the Estee Lauder Youth-Dew Eau de Parfum.

A top favourite smell as we head towards spring, as M&S describes it as: "Captivating, rich and exceptionally lasting. Because it was originally sold as a bath oil, not perfume, women felt free to enjoy and wear it every day. Instead of using Youth-Dew by the drop, women used it by the bottle. Men loved it too, saying it was "simply the sexiest fragrance ever."

Hotel stays from £59 at Village Hotels

Looking to book a getaway? Then Village Hotels is definitely a good place to look at this Leap Day. The chain's flash sale has bed and breakfast options for two people from £59, with packages valid for stays from Thursday to Sunday between today and June 2, included selected bank holidays.

With many hotel deals blocking out weekends, this is the exact opposite making it perfect if you're looking for a weekend break.

If you're not familiar with Village Hotels, they have 33 different hotels from Aberdeen to Bournemouth, many in vibrant cities perfect for metropolitan getaways.

Most of the brands hotels have pools and fitness areas, many have in-house Starbucks and all have reasonably priced bars and restaurants and if you sign up for their Revolution members' service you can often get additional perks and discounts.

Full disclosure: I've never had a freebie from them but the Nottingham Village Hotel is a Flanders family favourite we've paid to stay at often, perfect for visiting the city and with some of the friendliest hotel staff I've ever met. They once even gave everyone checking in on a Friday night a free Crunchie to celebrate the weekend.

To mark 2024's bonus day GMC have knocked up to 60% off hundreds of products and a quick peek at their site shows we're not the only ones eyeing up a bargain this lunchtime, with haircare bundles and skincare offerings including, inevitably, the ever-popular hyaluronic acid age-defying duo all showing as popular and several of their most beloved options, including their Aloe Vera and Coconut hair care set already showing as sold out.

There's also a Mother's Day mystery bundle reduced to just £20 in the sale making it less than half the price of the LookFantastic Mother's Day hamper Mrs Hinch praised earlier in the month.
