Ben Affleck has begged his wife Jennifer Lopez to stop using intimate details of their relationship for her music career.

The couple, who tied the knot in July 2022 after rekindling their relationship almost two decades after splitting, has given fans insight into their marriage with the release of Jen's new Amazon Prime documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told.

In the documentary, the couple discusses romantic, handwritten love letters from Ben that she kept in a memory book, leading to her affectionately dubbing him "Pen Affleck". Yet the singer has also used the material to shape new lyrics for her forthcoming music, with actor Ben left 'embarrassed' and 'mortified' as his private musings are laid bare.

The lyrics to Jen's new single 'The Greatest Love Story Never Told', which ties in with the documentary, reveal graphic details of their sex life as she sings: "Missing your body, Climbing on top of me, Slippin' inside of me, Way that I ride it, Bodies aligning, Look at our timing".

An inside source told Closer: "Ben had begged her not to go into such vivid detail, but Jen wasn't hearing any of it. She was clear from the start that she'd share how passionate and intense their love story is but, for Ben, it's too much. He's feeling trampled on, not to mention embarrassed."

They added that the Hollywood actor has been left "uncomfortable" after Jen took the letters he wrote to her and used them for inspiration for her lyrics, as the source added: "She can't see that she's embarrassing her husband. Either that, or she doesn't care."

The humiliation is thought to be spilling over for Ben as he worries how it will affect his children, Violet, Seraphina and Samuel who he shares with ex wife Jennifer Garner, with family and friends said to be "mortified" over Jen's words. The source said the lyrics and the documentary are "a lesson in humiliation" for the Oscar winning actor, who is thought to be upset at the "shock value tactics like the Kardashians" that Jen is using.

In the Amazon Prime documentary, Ben, who appears to be less in the spotlight than Jennifer, open up about when the couple began to date again. In one moment, Ben recalled feeling some hesitation about Jen being so open with their relationship in her work. He told the cameras: "I did really find the beauty and the poetry and the irony in the fact that it’s the greatest love story never told. And if you’re making a record about it, that seems kind of like telling it."

In another scene, Ben expresses how it was an adjustment for him to have her share their private life with the world: "Jen was really inspired by this experience, which is how artists do their work. I certainly do the same things, but things that are private, I have always felt, are sacred and special because, in part, they’re private. So this was something of an adjustment for me."

The Greatest Story Never Told is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
