Nadia Sawalha shared an hilarious video with fans on Wednesday - revealing that she's accidentally broken the law.

The Loose Women favourite even prompted a response from a police force thanks to admitting her 'crime' on Instagram. In a video filmed in an airport, the ITV star told her followers: "I'm just at the airport and have realised I have broken the law multiple times. Could have faced the fing courts...and what you don't realise is you have too. I mean, what the f."

The former EastEnders actress then turned the camera to reveal a sign from the police warning passengers that says you can't be drunk on an aircraft. "I had no idea this was illegal? ? Did you? When did they make this illegal? ? ? ", Nadia asked as she captioned the video.

"Have we all missed that GINORMOUS sign," one Instagram user joked as they wrote underneath Nadia's video. "What??? Omg all those times!! seriously," another penned, as third fumed: What the f*"k!!!!!! Since when was this a law???? So you can't get on a plane drunk but it's ok for the flight attendants to take your money and ply you with alcohol for you then to get off the plane drunk? I'm confused - getting on/off the plane drunk, what's the difference."

Even though Nadia was making a joke, some people reminded everyone that being drunk on flights isn't a laughing matter. Someone grumbled: "Plenty of idiots ruin it by sneaking on their own booze getting smashed and causing problems for the staff and public it's a good think drunken idiots are annoying as hell on a flight."

An ex-flight attendant shared their thoughts and added to the debate, writing: "As ex cabin crew who had to deal with plenty of out of control passengers in my time, it's for the safety of you and everyone around you. People actually mad on planes as it is. Alcohol is not the answer."

Even the Instagram account for Sussex Police got involved, with the force's social media manager writing: "Hands up, Nadia. We’ve got you! Just kidding, a few drinks won’t make you a woman on the loose. Having a drink or two whilst waiting to get on the flight or during the journey isn’t a crime. But being drunk and causing a disturbance is an offence and has been since 2009, to keep everyone safe and comfortable. We hope you had a good flight."

Airlines can say no to drunk passengers if they think they might be a danger on the plane. If you're caught being too drunk, you could get fined up to £5,000 or even go to jail for two years. You're allowed to bring up to 5 litres of booze from Duty Free onto the plane. But remember, you can't drink your own alcohol during the flight; it has to stay in your carry-on bag. If you want a drink, you'll have to buy it during the flight.
