Two women from London climbed one of Wales' best known tourist attractions and have claimed it was 'just horrific'.

The holidaymakers shared their funny story of scaling Pen y Fan in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), describing it as "the most horrific thing" they've ever done. Their video on TikTok, posted by a page called London Hotspots, has racked up tens of thousands of views on TikTok so far.

The video starts with the funny line: "If you want to see two t**ts hiking, keep watching." One of the women then says: "If you take hiking seriously, and you're going to be offended, please stop watching now." She explains how her friend asked her to go hiking, and even though she first said no, she later changed her mind.

In preparation for their hike up the mountain, the two made a stop at Sports Direct. She said: "Had to stop in Sports Direct because it was raining, so we had to get some waterproof trousers. Didn't actually realise it was going to rain because on the weather app, it literally showed like one single raindrop. We already weren't prepared. From this minute, we should have just gone home", reports Wales Online.

The pals planned to lodge in a hotel before tackling the "long walk" ahead of them. In spite of the consistent downpour, they were in high spirits initially, however, this didn't last. "Honestly, I don't know why at this point we didn't just go home," she said. "So we put on our waterproofs and then we started our walk. We were still quite excited at this point, thought it was going to be a breeze. I don't know why I thought that because I'm not someone who walks, works out, does anything. Like I literally get out of breath loading the washing machine.

Their adventure hit its first hiccup within a few minutes when they found the bridge leading to the Pen y Fan pathway closed. Unfazed, they decided to tread along regardless, reaching successfully on the other side and carrying on with their journey. "Honestly, it's one of the worst things I've ever done," she said. "It was just horrific. My heart hurt so much, I couldn't breathe. The stones felt slippery, my footwear wasn't appropriate. I did actually go to Sports Direct to get appropriate shoes, but I just don't think these were it. We were cold and my brain was freezing. Everything was cold."

By the time of their return, workmen had reached to fix the bridge, leaving them no option but to wade through the stream. Despite being drenched and shivering by then, they managed to navigate their way to safety. By this point we were freezing, cold, wet," she declared.

The couple went back to their hotel, only to find their room wasn't "warm enough" and they had just one towel between them. They tried to dry off but decided to go home instead of staying another night. Even though the hike was "horrific", lots of people supported them for trying to climb Pen y Fan. Some said they had been through the same thing.

"I admire your determination," one person said. "I take hiking seriously but I love you two," said someone else. One person shared: "My best friend and I started a hike, 20 mins in we stopped and went to the pub for the day", and another commented: "'One single raindrop' in the Beacons is like torrential rain everywhere else."
