My Mum, Your Dad star 'heartbroken' as family rocked by second death in months
My Mum, Your Dad star Sharon Benson has been left heartbroken as her father passed away five months after her mother.
The 53-year-old fashion expert was a contestant on ITV’s reality show - which was dubbed Love Island for middle-aged contestants - last year. During her time on the show, she matched with 53-year-old PE teacher Elliott Davidson and both Sharon and Elliott won the approval of a romance from their respective children Tia Zanetti, 24, and Zachary Davidson, 21.
In the months since the show aired, Sharon has been on an emotional rollercoaster as she has been hit with two family tragedies. On Wednesday, the reality star took to social media to reveal her father had died in the early hours of the morning.
Taking to Instagram Stories, she shared a black and white image of her late dad and shared a tribute to him. She wrote: “Mam & Dad 56 years together, you just wanted to be with her... She'll probably have a go at you for missing her birthday. My Dad passed away peacefully 3am... we are heartbroken."

Sharon's sad update came just months after her mother passed away (Instagram)Back in September, soon after Sharon took part in the ITV reality show, she revealed that her mum had sadly passed away. She shared the sad news via social media, writing at the time: "Finally she is at peace, sweet dreams Mama." And she later revealed that Elliot had been able to meet her mum before she passed away.

Sharon uploaded a string of photos to Instagram showing her, her family members, and Elliott all enjoying a celebration. She added a poignant caption at the time that stated: "Dad's 80th Birthday celebration & Mam's last dance with Dad." Fans rallied around the reality star as she shared the sad news of her mum passing away. One fan wrote: "Sorry about your mam. But so glad she got to meet Elliott am sure she would of giving the seal of approval" - along with a pink heart emoji.
While Sharon and Elliott's relationship was a hit with fans, the romance sadly did not survive and in November last year, the couple confirmed their romance was no more. Elliott claimed the pair were keeping in close contact after deciding to just be friends. He told OK! magazine: "[We are] on good terms. It’s just the way things go. It just doesn't work out sometimes.”
He went on to say how delighted he had been over the response the public had shown him since he found fame on the heartwarming ITV dating show. He said at the time: “What has been really nice is the response to the show. There’s been a lot of people reaching out through social media to say how much they’ve enjoyed it so to be a part of that has been fantastic. It was so much fun.”
