I’m A Celeb winner Sam Thompson has enraged social media fans by asking Hollywood star Timothée Chalamet a bland question during a junket for Dune: Part Two.

The 31-year-old reality star has been branching out with his career since he shot to fame on E4’s Made In Chelsea in 2013 and is now taking on interview duties for a range of broadcasters. As well as being a reality star and regular celebrity game show contestant, Sam also hosts a radio show on Hits UK - and through this job he was able to meet 28-year-old Timothée and 32-year-old Austin Butler about their upcoming blockbuster Dune: Part Two.

In his role as Paul Atreides, Timothée plays the on-screen love interest of 27-year-old Zendaya's warrior character Chani. And Sam took the chance to asked Timothée about his on-screen relationship with Zendaya - however film fans were up in arms over the basic question.

One fan took to X to share a clip of Sam asking his question - and captioned the moment with a brutally blunt statement, writing: “they asked the question AGAIN.” The X user also suggested the clip showed Timothée had mentally checked out of the interview over the question.

Addressing the American actor, Sam said: "You're an actor, right? I would find it so hard to, like, you've obviously got a relationship with somebody who is also your friend. It's not even like you don't know them. They're actually your friend. Is it easier or harder to, like, have a relationship on screen with somebody who you are actually pals with? Would you rather someone you didn't know?"

Politely responding to the question, Timothée said: "There's no good answer to that. I feel that it's what the story required and maybe, in some ways, because we are good friends, maybe it was less weird." And while Timothée seemed more or less happy to answer the bland question, social media users were less forgiving.

One scathing viewer of the viral clip hit out at Sam, writing: “I actually feel sorry for journalists that have pursued the career, been through the schooling, got the degree and have realistically no chance of getting anywhere without major roadblocks because all the opportunities are being given to unqualified Reality TV and TikTok ‘stars’.”

Sam spotted the comment and opted to hit back. He replied, jokingly: “You should have seen the bit where I asked Timothy if he wanted to play Call of Duty with me, you’d have loved it.” However, this only set off more complaints as many fans noted that the former Made in Chelsea star had spelled Timothée's name incorrectly.

Sam has been appearing on various TV shows in recent years after finding fame more than a decade ago. He has appeared on Celebrity Fifteen to One, Celebrity Big Brother, Celebs Go Dating, CelebAbility, Celebrity Ghost Hun, Celebrity Coach Trip, Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, The Celebrity Circle, and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! - which he won last year. He has also cropped up as a regular panelist on Love Island: Aftersun, appeared on Sunday Brunch, and also had a spin on Tipping Point: Lucky Stars.
