Adele has been criticised by some fans over the news that shows in her Las Vegas residency are being rescheduled.

It was announced overnight that the singer-songwriter, 35, has postponed a number of her shows which had been scheduled for next month. Adele shared the news to her fans in a statement posted on social media this morning.

The Brit Award winner - who launched her residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in 2022 - has faced some criticism over the situation this week. It comes after she postponed the residency last minute two years ago, saying at the time that the shows weren't ready for audiences.

This time though, the performer has said she needs to "rest thoroughly" due to illness. She shared a statement on the likes of Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter, about the affected shows between March 1 and 30. The final ten shows, from May to June, are seemingly unaffected.

She wrote: "Sadly I have to take a beat and pause my Vegas residency. I was sick at the end of the last leg and all the way through my break. I hadn't quite gotten the chance to get back to full health before shows resumed and now I'm sick again, and unfortunately it's all taken a toll on my voice.

"And so on doctors orders I have no choice but to rest thoroughly. The remaining 5 weekends of this leg are being postponed to a later date. We are already working out the details and you willl be sent the information asap. The postponed dates are 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 & 30 March."

Adele - who is due to perform a few shows in Germany later this year after the residency concludes - apologised in the accompanying caption. She said: "I love you, I'll miss you like mad and I'm sorry for the inconvenience x."

The announced has been met with criticism from a number of fans, some of whom noted that it isn't the first time Adele has postponed shows in the residency. One person wrote: "This is the second time this happened to me!"

Another said: "This is the second time the concert is cancelled days before we were to attend. Both times were a birthday present for my teenage daughter. We're out airfare, hotels etc." Whilst a third wrote: "Ughh she always does this."

Someone else commented on the recent news: "This is really inconsiderate ... she is wonderful and charming, but the tickets were super expensive and the whole trip was just to see her and now it's almost impossible to return."

Another person said: "This isn't the first time she cancel y'all. [...] Not surprised she's doing it again." Someone wrote: "Adele fks over her fans again [...] All those people who work hard and booked vacations to see her now getting screwed."

One fan asked: "So who's paying me back for the expenses of my trip that are non refundable?" Another tweeted: "I want to say I'm shocked but I'm not, just disappointed. I don’t want crocodile tear apologizes anymore."

"Well, this is not fair. We have tickets, rooms, airlines, everything paid [...] So not right Adele, you should've did this two months ago [instead] of people buying everything to Vegas," wrote one person following the announcement.

Another said: "Adele this has become a norm. Not finishing your shows. Do better. If [you] don't like doing plenty [of] shows, then stop doing them." Whilst one person said: "She did this last year. She shouldn't committ to dates if she can't handle that number of shows." Another wrote: "You should not have booked so many shows. Who is paying for flights and hotels that are already booked."

Others were more sympathetic though, with one person writing: "Well, I'm completely crushed. [...] I hope you get better, and I know it's out of your control but I'm so bummed." Someone said: "Hope you feel better soon. [...] So sad to miss out for the second time in a row." Whilst one fan said: "Hope you feel better soon but I am feeling very sad that I won't see you."

And many fans came to her defence. One person wrote: "If you actually cared who you're seeing live you'd understand her health is more important than your flight." Someone echoed: "Your health and well being is what matters most." Another person commented: "Nobody owes their health for your entertainment."

Others encouraged those expressing disappointment to book insurance for concerts. "People who booked time to head there and watch her should've bought travel insurance or rebook with their airline. I'd rather the artist get well and inconvenience me than expect them to suck it up and give a mediocre experience," one person reacted amid the backlash.

Many fans instead took the opportunity to simply express well wishes. One person wrote: "That angel voice has be recovered, take care of yourself." Someone else said: "We love you. Take care Adele." Another wrote: "Get well soon."
