MAFS descends into chaos as wedding called off with bride and groom at altar

Married At First Sight Australia viewers were left stunned as a wedding was called off thanks to the groom's wishes.

During Tuesday night's show, MAFS history was made as a wedding was cancelled as the bride and groom stood at the alter. Lucinda from Byron Bay was matched with Tim, making them one of the first couples to be married on the latest series of the hit E4 show.

However, it wasn't smooth sailing for the new couple. They met for the very first time as Lucinda walked down the aisle at their outdoor ceremony, however, Tim wasn't too sure if they were matched well. Speaking to the camera, he said: "She is a great-looking girl, she had a great smile and a great-looking dress. I am getting the sense that she is a spiritual energy type of person which is very different."

His nerves started to kick in and it appeared his calls were quickly answered. During their vows, a huge storm cloud rolled in. Tim confessed: "I was waiting for something to fall out the sky and hit me, it was like all my prayers had been answered. The first couple of drops I thought we could last this out, then when it just started belting with rain - everybody went nuts."

Lucinda and Tim's wedding guests were seen running away from their seats as they tried to find shelter from the storm. As they ran, one guest could be heard saying: "That better not be an omen," while another held onto a pregnant woman and quipped: "She is going to have her baby!"

Tim confessed: "Maybe it was the big fella up there just saying 'Hey take five', which I really appreciated." It was the first time in Married At First Sight history that a wedding had been called off halfway through. The unexpected rainstorm left the guests having to huddle inside a gazebo while the weather passed.

Despite the shock turn of the weather, Lucinda didn't seem phased. When asked if it was what she expected of her big day, she said: "I think it is better, all the elements came out the rain and the wind. Apparently, it is good luck and I am rolling with that."

Luckily for the new couple, the sun made a reappearance and they were able to start over again. Tim commented: "Nothing about this day has been normal but you can see that she has just got a great heart." The pair were able to exchange their vows and carry on their special day.

Viewers soon took to social media to share their thoughts as one said: "Timothy has been left totally speechless and overwhelmed by Lucinda. And mother nature set in. I mean didn't they see the weather before they decided on venue for marriage ceremony." Another added: "Lucinda's witchcraft caused a terrible change in the weather. This can not be a good omen!"

Someone else commented: "That lightning is a sign from God. Don't do it, Sir. He should have checked the weather channel before walking down the aisle." A fourth quipped: "Pathetic fallacy! #MAFSAU." Another wrote: "#MAFSAU check the weather forecast, big storm due, let's stick them near a load of trees, far from the marquee, and see what happens."

A viewer added: "That guy running like a cartoon and "she's gonna have her baby" had my p***ing myself." Someone else said: "Tim's secret prayers to the rain gods were obviously answered," as another commented: "Well. The rain has spoken." One simply said: "I cant stop laughing."
