Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck candidly share the reason they broke up in 2003
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have revealed the real reason behind their shock 2003 breakup before they rekindled their romance in 2021.
The hitmaker, 54, and actor, 51, first started dating in 2002, with them getting engaged for the first time that same year. They then postponed their wedding in September 2003 and officially split in January 2004 - with the reasoning behind this now unveiled in a new documentary.
Bennifer, as they were nicknamed, then rekindled their romance and went Instagram official on JLo's 52nd birthday in 2021. They were engaged a second time by April 2022.

They first eloped in Las Vegas before going all out for a white-themed wedding ceremony at Ben's Georgia home one month later, which was attended by a mass of loved ones and close friends.

And now J-Lo has provided fans with an insight as to why she and Ben split back in the early 2000s. Speaking out in her new documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, the hitmaker said: "Ben and I, we broke up three days before our wedding.
"We had a big wedding planned—14 ushers and bridesmaids—and three days before, we just crumbled under the pressure."
Ben then agreed with his wife that the reason behind the couple's split in 2003 was down to "the massive amount of scrutiny" around their private life.
The couple then touches on how deciding to call off their first wedding led to them going on journeys of self-discovery. Jennifer recalled in the programme: "For all those years, it was really hard because I didn't just feel like I lost the love of my life, I felt like I lost the best friend that I ever had.
"And I couldn't talk for so many years, and that was the hardest part."
She then touched on how she was "angry" at Ben, but noted how they both became better people because of how things turned out.
