Sylvester Stallone has announced he and his wife are "permanently" leaving California to move to Florida.

The Rocky icon made the revelation to his three daughters - Scarlet, 21, Sistine, 25, and Sophia, 27 - during the season two premiere of The Family Stallone on Paramount+. He said he and his wife of 26 years, Jennifer Flavin, would also be selling their home in California, adding they have already found a home in Florida.

Sylvester, 77, said: "After long, hard consideration, your mother and I have decided, time to move on and leave the state of California permanently and we're going to Florida." He added: "We're gonna sell this house. We already have the place, it's a done deal."

The couple is set to relocate to their $35million (£27million) property in Palm Beach. Jennifer, 55, said: "It's an empty nest, I need to change it up." Their 27-year-old daughter Sophia and 25-year-old Sistine moved to New York City while the youngest, 21-year-old Scarlett, headed off to college at the University of Miami.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' wife, Casey DeSantis, welcomed the Stallone family to Florida sharing a message on X, formerly known as Twitter. She wrote: "Welcome to the Free State of Florida! In addition to respecting and protecting your God-given, constitutional right to be free, you can also buy toothpaste without having an armed guard in CVS unlock it for you."

Their decision to move to Florida follows their reconciliation after Jennifer filed for divorce from Sylvester in August 2022. However, a month later, a Florida court filing revealed that the two - who have been married since May 1997 - decided to "resolve all issues attendant to the dissolution of their marriage in a dignified, amicable and private manner out-of-court."

During the episode, the actor said initially he didn't like the idea of relocating but said he "gave in" as his wife "had her heart set on it". He said in a confessional: "We have a lot of roots in California, so it's not an easy transition to Florida, but Jennifer really had her heart set on it. I gave in."

While Sistine said the move was a "great idea", Scarlet reacted differently, later telling her mum that she was hoping to raise her own children in the house where she grew up.

After Sylvester admitted moving is "not easy", Jennifer added: "This has great ramifications. Let's say it doesn't work out, no what? The house that we love, that we had built, gone."

She also reassured her husband saying they can now make "new memories, new beginnings" in the Sunshine State. The couple are not the only big names who have moved to Florida in recent months.

In January, Fox News personality Sean Hannity said he would move to Florida as he was fed up with New York. Lionel Messi also moved to the state, joining Inter Miami CF, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said he was moving back to Miami in November.
