Lorraine Kelly 'so sorry' as Dr Hilary Jones announces death of 'remarkable' mum
Lorraine Kelly confirmed her colleague Dr Hilary Jones had sadly lost his mother recently, telling him she was "so sorry".
Dr Hilary confirmed the news on Lorraine on Tuesday, as he detailed the "celebration" of her life this week at her funeral, attended by his family. Hilary had not shared the news of his loss prior to the latest episode of the ITV daytime series, with Lorraine sharing the news on air.
Lorraine told her co-star and pal she was "so sorry" for the loss of his mother Noreen, who had appeared on her show in 2019. While Hilary did not go into detail about when his mother passed away, he praised the "remarkable" life she lived.
He told Lorraine on the show after her funeral this week: "We were celebrating her wonderful life. She was 97 years old, she was a kind, generous, very knowledgeable and wonderful woman. She was a remarkable woman.

"She was skilled in antiques, being a nurse, she was a great mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well. We had the opportunity to get together and to celebrate her life."
Hilary added that she had a life that was "totally lived". Lorraine also paid tribute to Noreen, recalling when she appeared on her show as a guest. Hilary joked about it, saying he and his mother laughed off the fact she had begun her TV debut or her TV career at the age of 93.

Lorraine praised her "brilliant" book, pointing out it documented loads of memories for her family to have for years to come.
Dr Hilary remained on the show for other segments on Tuesday, while he referred to his later mother throughout. As they discussed different health topics and did a segment on honey, Dr Hilary and Lorraine both repeated how his mum would enjoy the chats they were having if she was with them.
