Rising Manchester City star Oscar Bobb has signed a new long-term deal with the Premier League champions.

The 20-year-old winger has agreed a contract that will keep him at the Etihad until 2029. The improved deal is a reward for Bobb's progress this season, which has seen him make 16 appearances in all competitions for Pep Guardiola's side.

Bobb made his Premier League debut in September against Fulham – and his Champions League debut just over a fortnight later. The Norwegian international scored his first league goal in stoppage time to seal a 3-2 win for City at Newcastle last month.

Bobb, whose previous deal ran until 2026, said: "It’s an amazing moment to know that I get the chance for at least a few years now to hopefully be a part of this club’s first team. It’s an honour. It's something I really wanted when the opportunity came – it was the only thing I wanted to do. Being part of it for the last couple of months, I feel like I've developed more than ever. It was an easy choice."

City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain said: "Oscar is blessed with superb natural talent and technique, and has already established himself as a very important member of the squad. He is an exciting player who is always hungry to learn, and who takes on board all the advice and guidance Pep and his coaching staff provide him with."

Hailing his progress last month, Guardiola said: “He can play in five positions, striker, right wing, left, in the pockets... [he is] so dynamic and the work ethic is unbelievable. Here [at Newcastle] in the Carabao Cup in the first half of that game he was outstanding the way he played, and he doesn’t feel the pressure much.

“I don’t know what happens with players in the Academy, look at Cole Palmer – he is doing really well at Chelsea and I’m so happy for him and all the players [like] Rico [Lewis] and Phil [Foden]. And it’s important for us and for the Club to bring players [through] from the academy and help us you know.

“When Jack [Grealish] has had problems this season and John Stones and now Manu [Akanji], Kevin [De Bruyne] and Erling [Haaland] out, an important part of the season is November and December with a lot of games and important players were not there and Oscar helped us. That is great, it’s really, really great.

“We have another player for many years for us if he decides to stay as for now he is happy with his minutes like Cole Palmer was happy with his minutes. But after two or three years they want more and it’s natural, it's completely understandable and maybe I don’t give them the minutes and they decide to go. If he decides to stay, we have a player for many, many years.”
