An ex-EastEnders star has landed a huge Hollywood gig, which he says is 'a dream come true'.

Actor Rob Kazinsky, 40, who played Sean Slater in the BBC soap, has been cast in the latest Star Trek film, which also stars A-lister, Michelle Yeoh. Taking to Instagram, sharing the happy news along with a picture of the actress holding a clapper board on set, he wrote: "Yet ANOTHER dream job alert...

"My people know that ST [Star Trek] is my life, I can pretty much mouth along to every episode of every trek. So to be joining the Trek universe is one of, if not the greatest moment of my professional life. Also, I met @jonathansfrakes [actor and director] this morning for the second time. AND he knew my name!"

Rob's post went down a storm with his pals, including his EastEnders co-stars. Jake Wood, who played Max Branning on the soap, commented: “Proud of you Rob, go kill it.” Former EastEnders star Kellie Shirley wrote: "B****y hell fire." Meanwhile, former Hollyoaks hunk-turned-Hollywood star Ricky Whittle replied: “Love this brooooo.”

Rob decided to leave EastEnders in 2009, before making a brief comeback in 2016. He has since made fleeting appearances in 2019, November 2021 and April 2022, relating to the other members of the Slater clan, including his sister Stacey, played by actress, Lacey Turner.

The Sussex-born actor is no stranger to the bright lights of Hollywood, with films including the Marvel Cinematic Universe - where he starred as The Don in Captain Marvel in 2019 - under his belt. He has also played the part of Perini in the Netflix film The Gray Man, alongside Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas and Regé-Jean Page.

Last year, fans couldn't get over how different he looked when he showed a snap of himself exercising on Instagram. He wrote alongside a number of photos - and a short video showing him sweating it out in a boxing ring: “You’re gonna be seeing a fair bit more activity over the next few months, and it’s the kind of activity and vanity I steadfastly avoid. Fitness S**t.”

He continued: “Here is day one, my starting off point. I weight 220lbs, I’m at 19.7% body fat. I turn 40 in a few months and one thing I’ve learned is that it’s getting harder and harder every single day to train and recover, I can’t do things like I did in my 20’s, so what’s the plan?”

Hinting that he may have another big budget movie role coming up, Rob went on: “I have a great job coming up if the strikes come to an end and I’ve decided to get into superhero shape, without drugs, without PEDs, without help, just a 40 year old fat b*****d making do with what I have still going for me. So we will start here as I figure this out. And we will do check ups, and updates and hopefully soon I’ll be able to tell you what it’s for.”
