Prince William doesn't want the “additional worry” of his “loose cannon” brother Prince Harry as he’s forced to step up while his father King Charles recovers, a royal expert has claimed.

The Prince of Wales has been required to up his busy workload to cover for the monarch, who is taking time away following his cancer diagnosis, and subsequent treatment. William was already under pressure before his father was diagnosed with cancer, as his wife Kate Middleton recovered following major abdominal surgery last month. To add to his woes, the father-of-three is now reportedly stressed about the return of his estranged brother Harry.

The Duke of Sussex surprised his family when he flew to London after being informed of his father’s cancer diagnosis, and while his long-awaited reunion with Charles lasted only 45 minutes, Harry has vowed to return to the UK to focus on his family. Royal expert and author Tom Quinn exclusively tells The Mirror that Harry being back in London is the last thing he needs, and needs stability to get him through the next few difficult months.

“William is deeply worried about his father because he does not yet want to be king. He, William, was hoping it was decades not years away,” he told The Mirror. “William has young children and his wife has endured a serious operation. Truth to tell he does not yet feel able to cope with the level of work that being the Prince of Wales involves, let alone being king.”

Tom believes William “wants none” of the stress and busy workload that his father has to constantly maintain, and wants to focus on his own family without having to worry about Harry’s next move. “With so much going on William, struggling with his own workload and inevitably expected to do some of his father’s work, will not want the additional worry of a loose cannon in the form of his brother,” he explained.

“Neither Charles nor William will ever fully trust Harry again – they are terrified he will speak to the press and tell everyone more about the precise nature of his father’s cancer,” he added. The Mirror has approached Kensington Palace for comment.

While Harry’s return to the UK was brief, he failed to visit his estranged big brother and sister-in-law Kate, who is expected to be out of action following her surgery for more than three months. The Princess of Wales is recovering at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor with her and William’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. She was admitted to hospital on January 17 and discharged on January 29, and is expected to be out of the spotlight until after Easter, with her first appearance rumoured to be in April.
