Republican frontrunner Donald Trump has been seen with a blonde 'secret weapon' his side recently, who could prove key in securing his return to the White House.

Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, has been increasingly by the former president's side after she was nominated to become the new co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC). She was described by the former US president, who is now running for a second term, as a "very talented" woman who is also "an extremely talented communicator". Trump added his daughter-in-law is "dedicated to all that MAGA stands for".

Lara, who married Trump's son Eric 10 years ago, addressed a South Carolina crowd ahead of the Republican primary in the state on Saturday, pledging her loyalty to her father-in-law after he endorsed her as co-chair of the RNC. She said: "I can assure you that my loyalty is to my father-in-law and I will make sure that every penny is used properly."

When asked if supporters would want their donations to go towards Trump's legal bills, she replied: "Absolutely. That's why people are furious right now. And they see the attacks against him. They feel like it's an attack not just on Donald Trump, but on this country."

She also said paying Trump's legal expenses is "a big interest" to supporters. She suggested that GOP voters would likely want the RNC to cover her father-in-law's legal bills given that they see the 91 felony counts against him as an example of political persecution. It's unclear whether the RNC's 168 members will eventually agree.

Lara is a former television producer and has two children with Trump's son Eric. The couple share a six-year-old son, Eric 'Luke' Trump, and a four-year-old daughter, Carolina Dorothy Trump.

She was born Lara Yunaska in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. She studied communications at North Carolina State University before earning a degree in pastry arts from the French Culinary Institute in New York.

She then worked as a personal trainer and as a board member of her husband's charitable foundation, which ceased operating at the end of 2018. Lara also worked as a producer for Inside Edition, but took the final two months of the 2016 presidential campaign off so she could focus on the election that eventually saw her father-in-law become president. At the time, she said: "When they're reporting on your family on the show you work for, it's a little challenging."

And while Lara was credited with helping Trump secure the Republican vote in her home state, at the time she was often overshadowed by the former president's eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump. However, many now say she is replacing Ivanka and becoming a force in her own right.

She has often spoken out in favour of Trump and previously told Fox News: "My father-in-law is a very loyal individual and he is very loyal to people who are loyal to him. When he feels like somebody isn't doing a good job, or is not being loyal, he's going to correct that, and I think that's what we've seen in the White House so far."
