Bradley Walsh recently welcomed four new players to The Chase set on ITV, as they tried to beat one of the UK's best brains, Darragh Ennis.

The team included Andy, a lawyer from Sheffield, Jane, a retired youth manager from Cardiff, Hannah from Cambridgeshire, and Billy who is a support worker from south London - and they were up against The Menace. Jane went second and got four questions right in her cash-builder round.

She managed to bring £4,000 back to the team after choosing the middle offer and making it to the final round. But when faced with Darragh, she was asked a question about pop star Taylor Swift. Bradley asked her: "Who was Spotify's most-streamed female artist in 2022?" The answers to choose from were Olivia Rodrigo, Ariana Grande or Taylor Swift, with the correct pick being the Cruel Summer singer.

People took to X, which used to be called Twitter, to complain about ITV's constant mentioning of the 34-year-old singer who often appears in the questions of the show. A user tweeted: "It's always Taylor Swift #TheChase," and another agreed by writing "#thechase Course it's Taylor Swift ffs." One person wrote: "TAYLOR SWIFT KLAXON #TheChase."

And those weren't the only fans of The Chase to take to Twitter and share their thoughts about the show's frequent mentions of Taylor Swift. One fan tweeted: "ITV obsession with Taylor Swift klaxon #TheChase." Another agreed, saying: "I like Taylor Swift but since the Superbowl I've seen more than enough #thechase."

Another disgruntled fan added: "#TheChase Always going to be Taylor swift I knew that and I'm Ancient." In the same episode, Darragh 'The Menace' Ennis saw all four contestants beat him, winning £8,000 after one contestant chose a lower offer. Darragh later defended the strategy on Twitter: "The team would have lost if the low offer wasn't taken. Anyone who thinks the low offer isn't worth considering doesn't understand the game."

Viewers had mixed feelings about taking lower offers. One viewer laughed at contestants wanting big holidays or saving for a mortgage and then choosing the minus offer, while another pointed out: "I think sometimes the low offer is the best offer to take."

Chaser Jenny Ryan recently spoke exclusively to The Mirror about filming for the hit ITV quiz show, revealing the drama that fans do not always get to see. Viewers love to have their say on the show online, with them often judging a contestant for making any wrong decisions.

One such move that often leads to judgment is when the player takes the lower or the minus offer, but apparently, this isn't what causes the biggest drama on set. Jenny revealed that it can often be more dramatic on set if a quizzer takes the higher offer on the show instead of prioritising getting back for the final round, while players ignoring the pleas and advice from the rest of the group also unsettles them. Speaking about the "drama" between the contestants, Jenny confessed she didn't envy the players.
