Losing weight can take a lot of time and motivation but there are some nutritious and filling foods that can help make it easier.

As well as putting the work in with getting active, your diet is a huge factor when it comes to weight loss, and there's one breakfast that can help shed the pounds and keep you fuller for longer.

Hailed by diet guru and Fast 800 diet founder Michael Mosley, the low-calorie breakfast will help keep you satisfied and curb mid-morning snack cravings - ultimately aiding weight loss.

Proving that not all diet foods are bland, Michael Mosley shared some of his favourite tasty breakfasts for under 400 calories on his Fast 800 blog - one being his Mediterranean omelette.

"When trying to lose weight, finding low-calorie meal options that are tasty and leave you feeling full and satisfied can make your journey far more achievable and enjoyable. The key is to find low-calorie meals that are filling and rich in nutrients so your meal keeps you satisfied until the next one, without wanting to reach for snacks or junk food," the Instagram post reads.

The pro then added: "Eating plenty of low-calorie, non-starchy vegetables alongside meals rich in protein, healthy fats and fibre, can leave you feeling fuller for longer, making weight loss more manageable."

With this, The Fast 800 team shared some of the tastiest ways to incorporate healthy foods into your breakfasts. The Mediterranean omelette takes just five minutes to prepare and ten minutes to cook. With just 359 calories it's a great way to start your day.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 50 g baby mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 red pepper (capsicum), deseeded and chopped
  • 2 large free-range eggs
  • 50 g tinned cannellini beans, washed and drained
  • chilli flakes
  • sea salt
  • black pepper

Instructions

  • Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and pepper and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the pepper has softened.
  • Meanwhile, whisk the eggs in a large bowl. Add the cooked mushroom, pepper and beans to the mixture. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Pour the mixture back into the frying pan and sprinkle over chilli flakes. Cook until the eggs begin to set, flipping once. Enjoy your Mediterranean omelette!

Mosley advises people to be savvy with your calories to get the most out of your meals. He explained on the Fast 800 website that one takeaway hash brown has 262 calories, whereas one large egg has approximately 78 and a head of broccoli is around 51 calories, meaning you can enjoy large meals that feel more fulfiling for the same - or less - calories.
