Supporters of Paris Saint-Germain could be heard booing Kylian Mbappe during Sunday's draw with Rennes, despite representatives for the player asking them to continue supporting the forward.

Mbappe has reportedly informed the PSG hierarchy, as well as a number of his team-mates, that this season will be his last in the French capital. It is all but certain the French international will continue his career at Real Madrid, despite Arsenal manager and former PSG midfielder Mikel Arteta's comments about the forward.

PSG's all-time top scorer was heavily linked with a move to Madrid in 2022, only to sign fresh terms with Les Parisiens. That big-money deal was slated as running until 2024 with an optional extra year, but Mbappe is not expected to exercise that option/

While an announcement of Mbappe's move to Madrid has been delayed, the deal is the worst-kept secret in football. Mbappe can still end the season securing silverware for his current club, though,, with his people seemingly keen to ensure he has the backing of the fans as he looks to do so, but not everyone has played ball.

According to L'Equipe (via Get French Football News ), PSG supporters' group Collective Ultras Paris were urged by Mbappe's representatives to hold off on booing or whistling the star before his exit was made official. According to the BBC, PSG and Real Madrid are waiting until it's no longer possible for the sides to meet in Europe before confirming the news.

Both teams are still in the Champions League and hold the upper hand at the halfway point of their respective last-16 games. Mbappe opened the scoring as PSG won 2-0 at home to Real Sociedad in their first leg, while Real Madrid will take a 1-0 advantage over RB Leipzig back to the Bernabeu.

Despite pleadings, though, Mbappe was still booed by sections of the home support as PSG struggled at home to Rennes. There were whistles and jeers as the forward was substituted for Goncalo Ramos 25 minutes from time, but it was the Portugal striker who scored a last-gasp equaliser as Luis Enrique's side escaped with a 1-1 draw.

PSG still sit 11 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 despite failing to win for the second time in three home games since the winter break. Amine Gouiri looked to have given Rennes all three points, only for Ramos to score from the spot deep into stoppage time.

"We lacked a bit of mobility, but I think it's a match that... leaves me with a good feeling because it's in the hard times that you see the players' character, their desire to fight, to turn the game around and go until the end," Luis Enrique said after the draw. He said he was pleased with the players' attitude despite his team not being "coherent".

The league leaders will return to action on Friday night, when they take on Mbappe's former club Monaco at Stade Louis II. Four days after that comes the second leg against Real Sociedad in San Sebastian, with a spot in the Champions League quarter-finals at stake.
