Brendan Rodgers storms out of interview after 'good girl' remark to host
Brendan Rodgers displayed his frustration as he called a female reporter "a good girl" and stormed out of a radio interview following Celtic's 3-1 win over Motherwell on Sunday.
The Hoops closed the gap on Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table with a comeback victory at Fir Park. Blair Spittal gave the home side the lead in the first half before Adam Idah scored twice to turn the game on its head and Luis Palma rounded off the scoring deep into stoppage-time.
Despite earning a much-needed victory in their hopes of winning a third straight league title, Rodgers cut an angered figure in a post-match interview with BBC Radio Scotland 's Jane Lewis. As he was assessing his side's performance, the Northern Irishman appeared to aim fire at comments made about his side.
He concluded: "There's a story being written about this group, but we'll write our own story."
When asked by the reporter if he could expand on his answer, Rodgers shut her down. The ex-Leicester boss then repeated "no" several times before adding: "You know exactly what I mean."

As Lewis then tried to ask Rodgers again, he said: "Okay, are we done?" The former Liverpool manager then appeared to dart away from the microphone before finishing: "Well done, good girl, cheers."

Rodgers has since come under fire for those comments. One fan said on X: "Trying his hardest to push this 'we'll write our own story' hoping to get fans back on his side. I had respect for Ange and what he achieved but this guy is just embarrassing." A second added: "Rattled. 100%"
"Yeah handling the pressure well, fake narratives and condescending to females," a third said. Another added: "This isn't the first time Rodgers has mentioned similar to this. Does he not realise is coming from his own fans??" A fifth said: "Did Brendan Rodgers really just refer to a female journalist as good girl? That’s outrageous, he’s lost it"
Celtic are back in action when they entertain Dundee on Wednesday as they look to ramp up the pressure on Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title race. The Hoops had failed to win two of their last three league matches heading into Sunday's win over Motherwell, and Rodgers will be hoping his side are back on track.
