Liverpool fans warn of "chaos at turnstiles" as supporters stuck outside Wembley
Plenty of Liverpool fans are currently stuck outside Wembley Stadium ahead of the Carabao Cup final due to a glitch with the entry system.
Around 85,000 fans are expected to be in attendance as the Reds take on Chelsea for the first piece of silverware of the season. However, with just an hour to go until the scheduled kick-off time, thousands of supporters are currently unable to gain access to their seats.
One Liverpool fan took to social media to shed light on the confusion, writing on X: "If you're heading to Wembley and have an android phone, re download your ticket and make sure its a QR code, not a compressed bar code as they aren't working. Chaos at turnstiles."
Soon after, Liverpool's official help centre echoed an identical sentiment as they told their thousands of followers online: "If your ticket is showing a barcode, please remove from the wallet and re download from the original email. The ticket should then show a QR code which will allow entry into the turnstile."
A number of fans have vented their frustrations online, making clear that digital tickets sent out by Liverpool were not working at the turnstiles shortly before kick-off.
Klopp's dream Liverpool line up as last-gasp January transfers rejectedAs mentioned, the match is due to start at 3pm after the kick-off time was moved forward following a request from The Metropolitan Police due to this contest being deemed a "high risk fixture". The final usually gets underway 4:30pm.
The situation has sparked plenty of reaction on social media. One X user wrote: "What a nightmare for the fans," while another added: "Disappointing to have admission problems again at another Cup Final" in reference to the struggles Liverpool fans had outside the Stade de France when thousands were kept outside the ground before kick-off.
One fan bemoaned the fact that tickets were sent digitally in the first place, writing: "Why don’t they just do paper tickets in the first place?"
Another particularly furious fan claimed: "S*** show at Wembley. Thousands of tickets not working as they downloaded a bar code rather than QR code. I'm one of the lucky ones who got there early. Football fans as usual messed around and this could be a massive safety problem later on."
Some have urged those in charge to delay the kick-off time to allow as many fans as possible to gain entry. However, there has been no word yet to suggest the timings of the cup final will be moved with the scheduled start time already so close.
