A twisted stepmother has been sent to prison for failing to stop her husband from torturing their six children after locking them in a dog cage as punishment.

Amanda Stamper, 33, wept in court after she was sentenced to up to 18 years in jail. She told Clark County District Court Judge Nadia Krall on Thursday she knew she 'should have done something sooner' as the court heard evidence from one nurse who called the "worst case of abuse" she had ever seen.

Sex worker Stamper, a pimp for her husband Travis Doss, 32, was accused of the sickening abuse of their children aged between two to 11. She faced seven charges of child abuse, six of whom were allegedly subjected to severe physical abuse. Two of her children were found in a dog cage in the apartment in Las Vegas, Nevada. The kids didn't go to school.

One child was locked in the dog cage for five days without food. She said in court: "I'm embarrassed to be here. I do take full responsibility for it. I was not in the best situation either and I was scared." Late last year, the women pleaded guilty to three felony counts of child abuse, neglect, or endangerment.

She was previously indicted her on seven counts of felony child abuse and neglect. “I was scared for my life and my other kids and my family,” she claimed to the Las Vegas Review-Journal when asked why she did not call police earlier than she did. “It’s hard for people to understand that unless you’re in that situation. It’s always been pretty bad. Anytime I tried to stand up for them though he would lash out at me,” she claimed.

Bodycam footage from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department shows the young victims home alone with two of them locked in dog cages. The evidence was gathered in June 2023 as the children were rescued at a residence on South Valley View Boulevard and the pair arrested.

Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney Dena Rinetti told the court: "Every single day the defendant failed to protect her six stepchildren. Her actions and her inactions will affect these children for the rest of their lives." A doctor told the Metropolitan Police Department the boy would have died if he had not been taken to hospital, The police's arrest report said the boy was suffering from malnourishment and a nurse informed police that “this is the worst case of abuse she has seen in 13 years.”

Doss, 31, has been charged with more then 40 offences, including multiple counts of child abuse and allegations of sex trafficking involving his wife. He is alleged to have used his wife to earn money through sex. She said: "I was abused as well, not just them. He would use my children and my family if I was ever to call the police like he would go find my family and my kids, he's just a really violent person'."

She told the Review-Journal the abuse stepped up in the weeks before cops found the apartment and claimed she reported the abuse to 911 dispatcher. One of the children inside the cages was found with their eyes swollen shut and their body covered in bruises.
