Donald Trump was licking his lips like a fighter and squinting like Clint Eastwood as he painted an "apocalyptic" image of a "dystopian future" for the US during his dark and unhinged speech at the CPAC conference, a body language expert has said.

The former US president, who is running for a second term, said during his speech on Saturday that a Biden win would lead to the country losing World War III while facing the collapse of medical social security, healthcare, and public education. Throughout his speech, Trump appeared to be "consuming his own words", body language expert Judi James told TheMirror.com.

At some point, the presidential candidate "squinted his eyes like Clint Eastwood to imply personal heroics" as he declared: "The only thing standing between you and obliteration is me," which Ms James said "sounded more like the strapline of a Bruce Willis movie than a political soundbite."

The expert said: "Trump spent the first third of this speech in a doleful, apocalyptic mode. Licking his tongue around his mouth as though consuming his own words he squinted his eyes, puffed his chest and turned his torso sideways before releasing dire warnings about what will happen if Biden gets back into office.

"Trump sucked his lips in for emphasis though and then shook his head before licking his top lip like a fighter. 'They're all afraid of Trump' was his third-person answer to avoid a dystopian future." Ms James added that through his body language, Trump showed "signals of confident enjoyment" as he addressed the crowd at CPAC, as his fans cheered him on.

She explained: "Trump threw his arms out in a gesture of inclusion with his open palms facing the audience in a gesture aimed at looking honest. Offering a 'passport out of tyranny' his puffed chest and his cocked thumbs were signals of confident enjoyment.

"After issuing these dire warnings he began to relax and showboat, calling his indictments 'bull***t', which got the audience chanting 'We love Trump' which he listened to with the widest smug smile on his face." As Trump yelled: "Crooked Joe Biden you're fired, get the hell outta here," his voice became "a loud growl" and his arms were spread widely, Ms James said.

She added: "He also threw shade at the press, pointing them out with a sweeping index finger, calling them 'corrupt' and 'clowns'." The body language expert said that in the second part of his speech, Trump's tone changed and his "rambling dialogues", including conversations from the past, seemed like "an indulgent display from a man who feels his audience are hanging on every word."

Ms James said: "Trump's speech implied he now assumes the love of his audience and he assumes their hatred of all things Biden." Repeatedly describing the Democrats as fascists, he said: "With four more years of Biden, the hordes of illegal aliens stampeding across our borders will exceed 40 to 50 million people. Medicare social security, health care and public education will buckle and collapse."

Describing his plan for the border, Trump said: "It will be the largest deportation in the history of our country and we have no choice." Addressing the numerous charges against, legal and civil, he claimed he is innocent saying: "The only crime I've committed is defending America."

He flitted from topic to topic but focusing on key campaigning points such as law enforcement, foreign policy, election fraud, and immigration. Promising immunity for police he said: "We have the greatest law enforcement people in the world but they’re not allowed to do their job."
