Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly had a surprise for one guest on their Saturday Night Takeaway - but it didn't go to plan.

The pair fronted the first episode of their new series, which will also be their last series for a while. The duo have quit the show to spend more time with their families and as a result, they aired a very special launch episode.

Fans who tuned into the show saw the pair reserve a couple of spaces for some very special guests including a lady called Maureen, who thought she was off for an evening with her family, only to end up front and centre of live TV. As Maureen made her way from her taxi into the studio, she pulled her jacket off and tried to hand it to the hosts, leaving fans laughing.

One wrote: "Maureen thought she was going for a cheeky dinner ends up being on a live show and getting a free holiday #saturdaynighttakeaway," whilst a second added: "I think Maureen is just a bit embarrassed. My mum would be mortified if I surprised her like that #SaturdayNightTakeaway." A third penned: "Maureen handing Dec her coat. What a queen. A fourth shared: "Maureen didn't seem that impressed by Ant #Saturdaynighttakeaway, and a fifth penned: "Maureen seems like a legend."

The pair previously opened up about their decision to rest the show. Ant said: "We need time to think and, and time to step back and look at the bigger picture and just see where we are now. Like I say, we’re turning 49, and what do we want to do next? What’s the next phase of our career? And we’ve got lots of ideas and lots of offers on the table, lots of options of things we can do. But it’s working on what we do next and where the next chapter begins. So that’s what we’re gonna do when Saturday Night Takeaway is out of the way. We’ll sit down, take a bit of time, and re-evaluate everything."
