Doritos issues urgent recall notice for Tangy Cheese packets bought from Tesco

An urgent recall on Doritos' Tangy Cheese packets has been issued as Tesco shoppers are told to return their crisps.

The popular product was withdrawn from sale after it was discovered undeclared soya was present in packages. The soya find poses a health risk to people with allergies, with the Food Standards Agency issuing an alert after Doritos Tangy Cheese was mispacked with Doritos Chilli heatwave.

Affected products include the Doritos Tangy Cheese 180g bag, which is sold only in Tesco, and the Poundland stocks of Doritos Tangy Cheese 5x30g multipacks. These products were potentially mispacked and pose a risk to those with allergies relating to Soya. Both products have a best before date of June 1, 2024.

According to the Food Standards Agency: "Doritos is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a recall notice to customers.

"These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product." The FSA has asked customers to not eat the product and instead call a Customer Care Line on 0800 274 777 to arrange a refund, the Daily Mail reported.

It comes as Lidl was forced to recall six types of cookies after it was believed some of the products may contain metal. A "do not eat" warning was issued on Wednesday (February 21) after it was found the Tower Gate triple chocolate and lemon flavoured soft cookies may contain pieces of metal, ITV reported. An FSA announcement confirmed customers should arrange a refund with the store they purchased the items from.

They said: "Lidl is recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products. If you have bought the above products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where it was bought for a full refund."
