Girls Aloud teased over a comment made by Cheryl years ago in a video that's been shared with fans on social media.

Cheryl, 40, was joined in the video by Nadine Coyle, 38, Nicola Roberts, 38, and Kimberley Walsh, 42, ahead of their reunion tour. The quartet are touring for the first time since their bandmate Sarah Harding passed away in 2021.

The clip, which was shared on platforms like TikTok and Instagram earlier this week, teased about being a certain age. A caption within the video itself read: "Imagine ... 30 odd year old ... singing 'I'm just a love machine'."

The remark references a comment made by Cheryl almost two decades ago in the reality TV series Girls Aloud: Off the Record (2006), which was unearthed a few years ago. Thinking about the future, she said at the time: "There'll be no reunions though, could you imagine 30 odd year old [singing] 'I'm just a love machine'. Nah, no thanks!"

The group's recent video seemingly teases over the fact that they are now all over the age of 30. It features audio from a scene in the film No Hard Feelings (2023) in which Jennifer Lawrence's character tries to conceal her age.

Cheryl mimes Jennifer's lines from the scene in question, initially saying: "I just turned 29." Kimberley mouths along with the response: "Recently?" Cheryl then lip syncs: "Last year." Nadine mouths along: "So you're 29?" Cheryl again lip syncs: "Last year." Nicola mimes: "And how old are you like right now?" Cheryl performs the line: "One more year older." Nicole mouths: "So 30?" Cheryl lip syncs: "Yeah ... 32."

The caption alongside the group's video read: "Well... it's happening #girlsaloud #thegirlsaloudshow #reunion." The post has amassed more than 45,000 likes on Instagram alone and prompted various responses from fans. This included compliments, with one person writing: "Can we take a moment to talk about how amazing they all look?"

Someone else said that the group "look fab," whilst a third person commented: "These ladies look amazing, they look even better than they used to at the height of [Girls Aloud]." There was praise for each member from some followers.

Among the compliments aimed at Cheryl, who led the video shared this week, was that she "looks amazing". Several people described her as "stunning" in their responses to the post, whilst someone reacted: "[Cheryl] still looks 21 to me."

Others were amused by the group referencing the decade-old comment made by Cheryl about not wanting to tour after she turned 30. One fan wrote: "Girls Aloud referencing themselves is the best thing." Another person said: "Cheryl will never hear the end of this." Someone said: "This is the content we love to see."

The group's upcoming tour, The Girls Aloud Show, is set to begin in Dublin on May 17. Cheryl, Kimberley, Nadine and Nicola are due to then visit cities such as Manchester, Cardiff, Newcastle and Glasgow, before the tour concludes in Liverpool on June 30.
