Emmerdale star responds to sudden 'axing' after stabbing horror storyline
Lawrence Robb has revealed his thoughts when his Emmerdale future was laid bare for him with a storyline which saw his Mackenzie, face turmoil.
The 32-year-old actor said he was shocked when the ITV soap bosses told him that after Harry was killed on Christmas Day when Charity Dingle, played by Emma Atkins, in self-defence, his own character, Mackenzie Boyd, would be the next to feel the force of the troubled Charity.
After nights of torment, Charity takes a knife to bed but after suffering another nightmare, she then stabs Mackenzie in self-defence and Lawrence believed that this was going to be his exit storyline. Speaking to the Daily Star, Lawrence said: "The producers pitched it as though I was going to leave the show. They told me that Charity stabs Mackenzie and I was like I need to start looking for another job then!"
After the initial surprise at the path his character was taking, Lawrence then said he was excited at how the storyline would play out. Laurence continued: "I was actually excited about having that because I've been on the show for a little while now and I've not got the chance to do this. Needless to say the novelty of lying in a hospital bed wore off pretty quickly but I've never done that."
The soap star continued to add: "They pitched it as I was going to flatline at the end of one episode and everyone was going to be left wondering if I was going to die. So I was quite excited. Emma chipped in: 'The whole nation would have been devastated may I add.'"
Death fears for Emmerdale's Sarah as teen rushed to A&E after exposing secretEmma has also revealed that Charity and Mack go on different paths after the incident. She said: "They kind of go in very opposite directions because Charity is in total shock to begin with and wants to be charged with accidental stabbing because she feels she's not in control of her own actions. She's terrified and bolts everyone out of her life and home. She even tells Mackenzie to take the kids because she's frightened of what she might do."
In his four years on the ITV soap, Lawrence has had some explosive scenes including Mack being kidnapped by his ex Chloe Harris' evil father Damon Harris - also known as Harry, who is eventually killed by Charity.
