An Australian TV news anchor struggled to compose herself as she announced the alleged murder of her colleague and his partner.

Holding back tears, Narelda Jacobs read out that police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon was charged with murdering missing TV presenter Jesse Baird, 26 and his boyfriend Luke Davies, 29. The police officer in question is alleged to have killed Jesse who was his ex-boyfriend and Jesse's current partner Luke at Jesse's home in Sydney on Monday (February 19). The pair had been missing for a few days and police had said they were severely concerned as a few of their possessions was covered in blood in a skip.

The bodies are yet to be found and police have not confirmed a cause of death. Friends and colleagues of Jesse who worked at Channel Ten paid tribute to him as police confirmed for the first time that they were now investigating his murder. Visibly devastated, Narelda clearly struggled to make it through the segment as she stumbled over her words a few times and was even forced to take deep breaths in a bid to carry on with the broadcast.

In conclusion of her report she said: "They are both much-loved men with a wide circle of loved ones, family and friends who adore them.Luke of course has an enormously supportive workforce at Qantas – he was a flight attendant – and the same for Jesse at the AFL and here at Channel 10."

She added: "Our thoughts are with their loved ones, their colleagues, their friends, and their families at this very traumatic time." And sharing the clip on her Instagram account after her news broadcast, Narelda wrote: "Honouring these two beautiful men on the darkest of days. Forever in our hearts Jesse Baird and Luke Davies."

She continued: "This devastating news was delivered through a trembling voice moments after the allegations were made by police. My thoughts are with Jesse and Luke’s families and their friends and colleagues at Channel 10, the AFL and Qantas. Our hearts are broken."

On the back of her post, Narelda was then inundated with messages of support from her followers including MasterChef judge Melissa Leong, who wrote: "Sending love. We felt you through that every second of the way." And The Bachelor star Abbie Chatfield commented: "Sending you love Narelda. You did an incredible job reporting on this despite how difficult it must have been."

Drag Race star Kween Kong said: "I literally just saw Luke last week. My heart goes out to families of both these angels! They deserved so much more!!!!!!" This news was always going to hit Narelda hard as two years ago she also had to report on the tragic murder of her nephew Cassius Turvey.

Cassius was only 15 years old at the time and was attacked while walking home from school in Perth. And it was believed the attack was "clearly racially motivated", according to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese Speaking of his murder, Narelda said: "Cassius is my nephew, and seeing those pictures from home, that’s all my family." The four people charged with his murder are set to go on trial next year.
