Former Love Island host Laura Whitmore has praised/snubbed Maya Jama as she made her hosting debut on the show.

Laura, 37, shared her decision to step down from the hotly desired role as host of the ITV dating show after the last series of the show wrapped in August.

Now, Laura has failed to acknowledge Maya's Love Island debut as she shared snaps and videos from her trip to Marrakech instead.

Shortly before the new series kicked off on ITV2, Laura posted a snap of her sporting a giant weaved hat inside the city's Medina before posting a black and white clip of herself pouring tea.

As she shared the video, Laura wrote below: "Learning all the tricks! Thank you @saad_films for a great start to the week!"

Maya, 28, made her on-screen debut on the show tonight – as she introduced the 10 new sexy singletons who have headed into the Love Island villa in a bid to find romance.

Haris Namani, Olivia Hawkins, Tanya Manhenga, Tanyel Revan, Lana Jenkins, Anna-May Robey, Kai Fagan, Ron Hall, Shaq Muhammad and Will Young got into their best beachwear to make an impression on their fellow Islanders.

The new series, which is being hosted in South Africa for the winter season, is set to be the raunchiest yet with a flurry of sexy additions in the villa – making it the perfect spot for love, or lust, to blossom.

After fronting the series for two years – taking over from the late Caroline Flack – Laura posted a statement to share her decision on her Instagram.

It read: "Some news!

"I won’t be hosting the next series of Love island. There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.

"I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline."

It was later revealed that fan-favourite Maya, 28, would be taking over as host in October.

Announcing the news on its official Instagram page with a video of Maya scrolling through her phone, Love Island wrote: "Okay, the rumours are true Say hey to your brand-new #LoveIsland host @mayajama!"

Meanwhile, former host Laura was quick to share her support as she also commented on the post.

Laura, who is married to the show's voiceover artist Iain Stirling, penned: "Yes girl!! So delighted for you! You’re gonna be fab", followed by a red heart emoji.

And Maya sweetly responded to Laura's comment as she wrote in reply: "thankyou chick". [sic]
