Teenage sensation Luke Littler opened a fan's Ultimate Team pack during his walk-on at the Premier League Darts in Newcastle.

Littler is a huge fan of the popular video game EA Sports FC 24, formerly known as FIFA, recently revealing he spent about £500 of his winnings from his run to the final of the World Darts Championship trying to pack a Team of the Year player in the game's Ultimate Team mode.

And ahead of his quarter-final clash against Peter Wright, one fan held the phone out to Littler with the Ultimate Team web app open. This prompted the 17-year-old to stop his walk-on and open a pack for the fan, before continuing his walk to the stage.

Littler then proceeded to beat Wright 6-5, before falling short against Michael van Gerwen as the Dutchman won a thrilling last-leg decider. And former darts star Wayne Mardle spotted a change in Littler's technique during his matches against Wright and Van Gerwen.

"He most definitely changed something," Mardle told Sky Sports. "At the start of the night, he was throwing with this set and then bringing it back against Peter Wright and playing beautifully.

"He did it against Michael van Gerwen and then changed halfway through the game where he was seemingly not happy with the way he was throwing. This was a new thing tonight.

"He may have done it during the pro tours this week, I don't know, but that was a new thing tonight that he abandoned against Michael in the last knockings. When you change your throw, you're also changing a routine and he clearly felt that wasn't helping him so he changed back.

"In my opinion, it had no bearing on the result, it had no bearing on whether he played well against Peter Wright or not. The kid can play. He's going to play well no matter how he throws."

Littler currently sits second in the Premier League Darts on seven points, joint with Michael Smith. Van Gerwen is top of the table with 15 points, having won nine matches, while Rob Cross is third with six points.

Both Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price have five points, while Nathan Aspinall has three and Wright is yet to pick up a single point. The tournament is set to continue in Exeter next week, with Littler due to take on Smith in the quarter-finals.
