Footage shows teen calmly tell 911 operator he killed mum after taking selfie
Harrowing Ring doorbell footage has shown a teenager calmly speak to a 911 operator after he ruthlessly stabbed his mum to death next to his newborn sister.
Derek Rosa, 13, was arrested after his mother, Irina Garcia, 39, was brutally killed inside their home in the city of Hialeah in Florida, US, last year October. The new doorbell recording emerged this month as prosecutors confirmed they are ready for trial.
In different footage, the teen admitted to killing his mum and told those investigating: "I woke up, I grabbed one of the kitchen knives and I went to her room... I killed her." Despite his confession, has has pleaded not guilty. In one clip, Rosa is seen in casual conversation with his mum as she sits in a chair with the newborn.

But later on, the footage cuts to moments after Irena was killed in her bed. The teen then spoke to an emergency dispatcher in a normal tone and said: "There's officers. I see officers. Do I leave? Do I leave my house?".

Further incriminating footage, which was played at a previous hearing, showed Rosa leaning over his mother's bed before she was killed. After the stabbing, investigators said the 13-year-old took a selfie of him smiling with his hands covered in blood. In the 911 call, the teen said: "I have blood all over my hands."

I took pictures and told my friends about it, was that bad?" He was arrested and later seemed to admit to the murder whilst being questioned.
"I woke up, I grabbed one of the kitchen knives and I went to her room... I killed her," he said. A recording also showed him pointing to his mother's neck when cops asked where he stabbed her. It remains unclear on why he stabbed her.

He was transferred to Metro West after his charge was updated to first-degree murder by a grand jury. It has been reported that he will stand trial as an adult.
His defence, Dayliset Rielo, issued a statement to NBC Miami and said: "Today would have been Irina’s 40th birthday, my prayers are continuously with the family and I hope wherever Irina is in heaven she continues to give them strength and protection."
