Getaway driver jailed over doorstep acid attack on mum, dad and daughter, 10,

A getaway driver who waited while a man attacked a family with acid on their own front door has been jailed.

Jadiel Williams-Douglas was sentenced to 27 months’ in prison after pleading guilty of three counts of assisting an offender after driving Denico Raymond to and from an address in Colindale, north London on July 12, 2021. Raymond was jailed for life in December 2022 after throwing acid in the face of a woman, a man and 10-year-old girl were also hit with the liquid.

Aylesbury Crown Court heard how Raymond had travelled in a car driven by 35-year-old Williams-Douglas armed with a milk bottle containing sulphuric acid. When a woman answered the knock on her door, Raymond threw the acid at her. He fled and was driven away by Williams-Douglas.

All three victims were taken to hospital for treatment to their burns before being discharged following treatment. A number of officers were also treated at the scene for the effects of the substance after attending the address. None of their conditions were serious.

CCTV Footage showed Raymond going into a shop to purchase water to douse burns he had sustained when he threw the acid. Raymond, 32 from Luton was jailed for life with a minimum term of nine years after pleading guilty of two counts and GBH and one count of ABH at Harrow Crown Court.

Detective Inspector Jack Stilwell, who led the investigation, said: “This sentencing comes at the end of a long investigation and I would like to thank the officers who have be involved with the case for their dedication. It also would not have been possible to secure these convictions without the bravery of the victims.

“Neither Raymond or Williams-Douglas ever revealed why they chose to attack this family and we have yet to uncover a link to the address; it may have been a case of mistaken identity but unsurprisingly they have not had the courage to admit this. Although this investigation is over, the victims will live on with the physical and psychological trauma of this horrendous attack.”

After the attack the dad believed his family had been attacked in a case of mistaken identity. The man, who asked not to be identified, said: "My wife answered the door and then I heard lots of screaming. I rushed to see what was going on and then I felt my legs burn. I didn't really know what was going on.

"I don't know what any of this is about. I saw the person who did this and didn't recognise him. I think we've all been the victims of mistaken identity. This attack has nothing to do with us because we are not that sort of family."

He added that his daughter had suffered the 'worst injuries' but was doing alright. His wife, 36, who was said to be 'visibly distraught', added: "We honestly don't understand why this has happened to us. Now is not a good time for us to speak about it because we are very upset."
