Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has being taking his mind off his split from long-term girlfriend Tisha Merry.

The acting duo were brought together by the long-running ITV soap - where 41-year-old Alan has played Tyrone Hobbs since 1998 and 30-year-old Tisha played Steph Britton from 2013 until 2018. The pair first went public with their love in May 2019 after months of speculation they had fallen for each other.

Alan is yet to discuss the break up, but has been shopping for some new threads as he puts his problems to one side. Taking to Instagram, the soap favourite says he has horse racing on his mind as he went to buy a new suit.

He headed to Marc Darcy's and uploaded a photo of the store to his Story. He wrote: "Cheltenham is around the corner = a bit of suit shopping." The horse racing festival kicks off in a few weeks and the actor loves a visit to the famous course.

Reports have suggested the romance between the pair collapsed at the beginning of this year and they have decided to go their separate ways. It has been suggested that they were both left feeling like their relationship had been ‘getting on top of them’.

The couple had been living together, but now Tisha is said to have moved out - and the pair are said to be focusing on themselves. A source has claimed the former couple are keen to amicably move on and are working on their respective projects.

The source told The Sun: “Alan and Tisha ... started to drift apart and feel the pressure of making their relationship work get on top of them. They realised they weren’t on the same page and splitting up felt like the best option. They’ve been focusing on themselves and surrounding themselves with their own friends. Tisha moved out of Alan’s home around a month ago and is throwing herself into work.”

Before dating Tisha, Alan was married to former Coronation Street star Lucy-Jo Hudson. The 40-year-old actress played Katy Harris on the soap from 2002 until 2005. They were married in 2009 and welcomed a daughter together - but the romance collapsed and they were divorced in 2018.

Lucy-Jo has since welcomed a second child - a son named Carter Ray whose father is Lewis Devine. While Alan and Lucy-Jo co-parent their daughter, Lucy-Jo has spoken out about how difficult she sometimes finds this - particularly when Alan would take their daughter away on holiday.

She wrote on social media last year: "It’s been almost 6 years of me having to share my Sienna, and you’d think I’d be used to it by now but I’m not. I cope a lot better than I did, as I know it’s just a part of being in a separated family, you have to get used to it, don’t you? But it really doesn’t get any easier, does it? Have the best time Sienna baby. I love and miss you already.”

Alan has also opened up about the challenges of co-parenting, saying back in 2020: "There's always going to be ups and downs with a blended family. So long as Sienna comes first in all of it, that's all that matters. Sienna's got her mum and dad, and she's also got Lewis and Tisha. It's just a case that everybody loves her. Of course, there will be differences of opinion; so long as we're in that loving way when Sienna is around. We don't have a great deal of communication, it's only ever about Sienna and that's all it ever needs to be."
