Robin Windsor didn't have a bad word to say about anyone in his industry despite it being such a fierce business, a friend of the late star has claimed.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star's death at the age of 44 was announced earlier this week, with tributes pouring in from celebrities and fans across the world. Robin's friends have since opened up about his final weeks and shared their memories of the late dancer.

Vincent Simone, who had been Robin's friend since their teenage years, told the Mirror how a three day search was launched to find Robin, after growing concerned for his well-being, but sadly it was to late and Robin was found dead in a hotel room in London on Monday.

Robin struggled with poor mental health over the years, particularity after being forced to quit Strictly, and often spoke candidly about his battle with depression. But despite struggling at times, the dancer was always "so kind" and had time for everyone. "Robin was just such a breath of fresh air, he was such a lovely guy," Vincent said when remembering his friend.

He continued: "Everyone loved him, he had so much love from people. Our business can be fierce, but he was so kind, and never had a bad word for anyone. I really encourage anyone who needs help, like he did, to go and speak to someone, There is loads of help available. You might think you're invincible, or be too proud, but you have to drop your guard and go and get that help."

Robin first appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2010, dancing first with Patsy Kensit and wowing viewers with his partnership Lisa Riley from Emmerdale. Sadly, Robin left the BBC series four years later due to injury - with the exit severely impacting his mental wellbeing.

The late dancer struggled with his mental health in the wake of leaving Strictly, struggling to get out of bed and rarely leaving his house. Discussing his experience with poor mental health, Robin said in 2018: "as far as everyone was concerned, I was 'happy Robin' – except to the people I lived with."

Robin's death was announced by Burn The Floor on Facebook in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The heartbreaking statement reads: "The Burn the Floor family has lost one of its founding members, Robin 'Bobby' Windsor - who has tragically passed away." Robin had been with the dance company for twenty years, dancing around the world including Broadway and West End.

"A BTF journeyman he danced with us for twenty years - including Broadway, The West End and all our crazy adventures around the world. His stunning image attached with Jessica Raffa defined our company, colourful, extreme and sensual. His talent, attitude, energy and personality helped create the Burn the Floor stage reputation. He leaves a void in our hearts that will never be filled, yet our wonderful memories will stay forever."

Speaking to the Mirror in the wake of Robin's death, Strictly star Vincent said: "The first thing I thought of when I opened my eyes this morning was Robin. He was the best man I ever met. Robin has had these moments in the past it was an ongoing problem. He would detach himself from people for two or three days. Then he would come back to the world, to reality. But this time, he didn't come back."
