Harry Kane has been caught up in a huge dressing room split at Bayern Munich over outgoing boss Thomas Tuchel.

The former Chelsea and PSG boss will depart the Allianz Arena at the end of the season after club chiefs manoeuvred their way out of their increasingly doomed relationship.

Bayern confirmed their decision to cut ties on Wednesday morning, following suggestions in Germany of a huge disagreement among the Bayern playing staff regarding Tuchel’s future after the club's dismal recent run.

According to German outlet Bild, up to 12 current stars are involved in the split - some supporting Tuchel, while others were keen to see him go. Kane, signed by Tuchel in the summer, it's claimed, was one of those supporting him.

Kane was not alone in leaping to his defence. His former Tottenham teammate Eric Dier was also reportedly a supporter of Tuchel despite having only been signed in January. Bayern captain Manuel Neuer also held the same opinion, in what is a similar return of faith Tuchel showed to the goalkeeper during his injury issues. Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala, and Raphael Guerrero were all also backers of him remaining in Bavaria.

While Tuchel had plenty of support in the dressing room, a number of pivotal figures were in favour of him leaving. That apparently includes legendary forward Thomas Muller, despite publicly backing Tuchel after the loss to Leverkusen, as well as key midfielder Joshua Kimmich, who had been looking to leave the club this summer if Tuchel remained in place.

Serge Gnabry, Leon Goretzka, Matthijs De Ligt, and Mathys Tel were all thought to be keen for Tuchel to be allowed to leave. Goretzka was previously left baffled at Julian Nagelsmann being sacked, while the rest of the group have seen opportunities diminish this season - adding to their frustration.

While a resolution has now been found to the ongoing situation, Bayern will now kick off their search for Tuchel’s successor.

Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, who is earning admiring glances from Liverpool, is the No.1 choice. The Spaniard is much-admired at the Allianz Arena, both for the style of his Bayer side but also the substance of the man, having made a big impression during his time as a player at the club.

Former Bayern and Germany boss Hansi Flick is also likely to come under consideration. He’s currently without a club and has recently changed agents as he plots his return to the game following his failed stint in charge of the national team.
