A feud looks like it's brewing at Radio 1 after DJ Greg James took a swipe at his former colleague, Jordan North.

Jordan, 34, who hosted the drivetime show on the station with Vick Hope, shocked fans when he announced he was jumping ship to Capital FM to replace Roman Kemp on the Breakfast show when the I'm A Celebrity star steps down.

As Jordan told fans how happy he was to have bagged the plush gig on Instagram, Greg, 38, who has been at Radio 1 since 2007 and presented the Breakfast show since 2018, commented: "Enjoy the money Jane." Jordan, who has worked at Radio 1 for 10 years is said to have signed a big money deal to join Global after quitting the BBC station.

With talk of his former colleague's mega money hitting the headlines, Greg made it clear he was staying put at Radio 1 and in another dig, posted a picture of earplugs, writing: “Renewed my breakfast show contract so bought myself a little something to celebrate.”

Jordan appeared on Capital for the first time this morning to confirm he is taking over from Roman. The broadcaster, who was reportedly axed from BBC Radio 1 without the chance to say goodbye, was live on air on Wednesday morning where the son of Spandau Ballet star, Martin Kemp, introduced his successor to the Capital Breakfast audience, saying: “You are going to absolutely love this Jordan. I have so much faith in you mate. It’s hard leaving, it feels like your child, but you want it to go into good hands and I know with you it’s going to be just that. Everyone, send as much love as possible to Jordan.”

He will hit the airwaves in April and will also host Capital’s Summertime Ball in June. Speaking today, Jordan told his new listeners: “I am beyond excited to be joining Global and to wake up the nation every morning on Capital. I can’t wait to start working with the amazing team here and get stuck in, to create the most fun and entertaining breakfast show. Getting to host Capital Breakfast has always been a dream of mine and it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that I simply couldn’t turn down.”

Jordan will be joined by his old Radio 1 colleague Chris Stark, as well as Sian Welby in the studio while Made In Chelsea's Jamie Laing has been signed as his replacement on Radio 1 and will begin his tenure in March.
