Robin Windsor was found dead in a London hotel room, it has been reported following the tragic news of his death at the age of 44.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star's cause of death is unknown. His passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from fans and his fellow Strictly professionals and former dance partners including Alison Hammond and Lorraine Kelly.

In the weeks before his death, Robin enjoyed a "dream" holiday to Cape Town but is now reported to have been found dead in a hotel room just days after his return.

The Mirror has contacted Robin's representatives for comment. But just after his final post, Robin was pictured on a cruise ship and appeared to be over the moon as he posed with holidaymakers. In one upload, the late star was seen smiling from ear-to-ear as he took a snap with two guests earlier this month. The image, shared by @MickyZanyComic was captioned: "Another great cruise on the beautiful Bolette @fred.olsencruiselines with an amazing group of entertainers."

Various snaps show Robin throughout his time on the cruise to South Africa where he worked as an entertainer, delighting guests with his dance skills. But days earlier, he also took to X, formerly known as Twitter after receiving a message from Deborah Meaden, who he appeared on Strictly with.

Deborah penned: "11 years after we did @bbcstrictly together this happens and it is just lovely!! The wonderful @Robinwindsor and my Mum ( yep...87 years and amazing!!) meeting up in South Africa...don't you just love it!!" Robin, responded with two heart emojis, after the Dragons Den star explained that he was "passing through" during his travels.

Meanwhile, his former dance partner Kristina Rihanoff took to social media to discuss his passing. She said it was an "absolute tragedy" that Robin felt as though he had "no way out".

"He was a friend and together we shared endless experiences from our careers highlights to hitting Rockbottom of rejection," she told fans. The dancer continued: "When I got partnered with him on Strictly I was blown away by his kindness, lighthearted personality and amazing loyalty. He had stood by me through many rough times during Strictly for which I am deeply grateful for as there was no one else to lean on.

"Many of you, who went to see his farewell tour, know perfectly well that he spoke very openly about his mental health struggles and thoughts of a suicide. I'm sure it was devastating for anyone who love Robin to hear something like that, but those thoughts were in his head for quite many years and it's so deeply sad that he felt that he is better to another place rather than stay here. Too much pain too much disappointment, too much Neglect."

In a heartfelt tribute, Strictly Come Dancing released a statement, in which they praised the "caring and kind" star. It read: "The whole Strictly Come Dancing family are deeply saddened to hear the news about our dear friend Robin Windsor. He was not only an exceptionally talented dancer and choreographer but also a caring, considerate and kind person both on and off the dancefloor. Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this extremely difficult time."

The Mirror has approached the Met Police for comment.
