Susanna Reid fought back tears on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain as she emotionally announced Strictly Come Dancing star Robin Windsor's death aged 44.

The presenter, 53, had previously danced with Robin on the BBC One show's Children In Need special back in 2011 and couldn't read out the breaking news announcement as she was in shock, asking co-star Ed Balls to take over instead.

The dancer's death was announced by Burn The Floor on Facebook in the early hours of this morning with no details regarding the date of his passing or the cause of his death. The international Ballroom and Latin dance company told fans in an announcement: "The Burn the Floor family has lost one of its founding members, Robin 'Bobby' Windsor - who has tragically passed away.

"A BTF journeyman he danced with us for twenty years - including Broadway, The West End and all our crazy adventures around the world. His stunning image attached with Jessica Raffa defined our company, colourful, extreme and sensual. His talent, attitude, energy and personality helped create the Burn the Floor stage reputation. He leaves a void in our hearts that will never be filled, yet our wonderful memories will stay forever."

After announcing Robin's death on the show, a devastated Susanna fought back tears as she paid tribute alongside co-star Richard Arnold, who was also left very emotional over the heartbreaking news.

Susanna said: "Robin was larger than life and I fell in love with him and fell in love with dancing when I danced with him back then [Children In Need's 2011 special]. He was an absolutely remarkable dancer, incredibly strong, so creative and he was just so enthusiastic about dancing. I just adored him. He was the most incredible personality."

Richard, who appeared on the 2012 series of Strictly when Robin was a pro, struggled to speak as he said: "I can't quite believe it actually because such heart, such a talent, I just can't quite.... bit of a shock actually, to be honest" as he fought back tears.

Paying tribute again later on the show, Susanna added: "He was just an extraordinary person and as I say, he would have had so many people gripped watching either Strictly Come Dancing or Burn The Floor or other tours and dance productions he was in involved in. I'm sorry if you're waking up to that this morning and are as devastated about that as we are."

The presenter then struggled to talk as she fought back tears, saying: "We send all of our love to Robin's family and to his friends and colleagues" as co-star, Ed, 56, comforted an emotional Susanna. Paying tribute further, Susanna said: "I knew how special he was. He was so incredible. He made me feel so good dancing, I'd never done anything like that.

"To dance on Strictly is such an incredibly iconic thing to do. It’s such a huge thing to do. To have someone with the strength and presence to dance with, he gave me so much confidence. He had an infectious sparkle. You felt like you were dancing with someone who just embodied the magic of Strictly."

She added: "He would know what to do [if things went wrong]. While you’re always aware the professionals are brilliant, the special skill is to make you feel like you’re shining - however little dance experience or ability you’ve got. I fell in love with Robin, I fell in love with Strictly - he ignited that passion, as he would have done with every single one of his celebrity partners, all of whom will be feeling devastated, as will his professional partners. It’s devastating news this morning."

Sisco Entertainment Group also announced Robin's death via a statement shared on social media. The tribute said: "It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved friend, Robin Windsor. Robin's presence in 'Come What May' was more than just a performance; it was an embodiment of passion, grace, and sheer talent.

"His extraordinary ability to express emotion through movement captivated audiences, leaving them spellbound with every step. Beyond his impeccable dancing, Robin's vibrant spirit lit up the room, infusing rehearsals and performances with infectious energy and warmth. His laughter was contagious, his kindness boundless.

"His friendship was a gift cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Robin, you will be deeply missed. Though 'Come What May' will continue without you, your legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to share in your light."
