Prince Harry faces 'difficult call' over King mention but Meghan has 'no filter'

Prince Harry faced a "difficult" call as Michael Bublé mentioned his father, King Charles, during a rendition of Frank Sinatra's "My Way", but Meghan Markle's body language showed she had "no filter", an expert has said.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex travelled to Canada last week to celebrate one year until the Invictus Games in Whistler, British Columbia. And while at a dinner there, Michael Bublé sang his own version of the hit song, calling 39-year-old Harry a "visionary" while also sending King Charles "healing wishes" following his recent cancer diagnosis.

The Feeling Good hitmaker's alternative version of the song opened ith a sweet reference to Meghan's nickname for her husband, as he sang: "She calls him H, we call him Harry." While singing, the chart-topping musician also made a joke about Harry, which made Meghan laugh as he said: "When passions flow, one thing we know, stay the hell out of your way."

Michael also sang about their relocation to the US, as said: "It's clear the home you hold dear is Montecito," prompting Harry to playfully shake his head as Meghan laughed. The singer then touchingly paid tribute to Harry's father, following news of the monarch's cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment. He sang: "Our healing wishes to your dad."

At that moment, Harry's body language responses appeared "dulled", Judi James told The Mirror after analysing a video posted on social media by Jody Vance, as the Duke of Sussex looked very different from his wife who was clearly enjoying herself. The body language expert said: "Was Harry suffering from cognitive confusion over Buble's lyrics which were a cross between deeply sycophantic and mildly sarcastic? His body language responses appear dulled here, sitting very still with his shoulders angled, unlike Meghan who is fully immersed in the comedy of the song."

She added: "Sadly we can only see the back of Harry’s head but the almost total lack of movement throughout the song suggests he must have been grinning hard to look anything other than wary or cool here. It must have been a difficult call for Harry, given that one minute Buble is singing ‘I think we know to stay the hell out of your way’, then there’s the super-flattery with words like ‘Visionary’ and ‘Sage’ but there’s also a line about ‘wishes to your dad’ that must have made any relaxed laughter of the type that Meghan indulging in tricky in terms of flipping between sad faces, flattered faces and all-out laughter."

Meghan, however, showed "no such filter" and even made "maternal-looking" gestures towards her husband, while laughing off at some lines of the song and caressing his face at some point. Ms James said: "Meghan has no such filter on her own body language responses.

"She looks at Harry to laugh as though egging him on and at one point she bursts out laughing with an audible laugh as she leans forward while he turns his head slightly to look at her. He seems to be looking at Meghan to take her lead and her body language rituals suggest she is trying hard to get him to see the funny side of some of the comedy lines.

‌"Meghan performs a maternal-style ‘Aww’ at one line and turns to Harry to stroke his cheek and gently tap it with her hand as though trying to get him to enjoy himself as much as she is.‌" The expert added: Meghan roars at the ‘Stay the hell out of your way’ line and that hand is back to pat Harry’s shoulder in another maternal-looking gesture.

"Meghan hides her face in a cut-off ritual at the Trump joke but claps and sings when the chorus comes around. Meghan rubs Buble’s wife's arm in an approval signal while Harry rubs his eye, looking distracted."

‌After the song, Harry, wearing a dark suit and black tie, took to the stage and spoke passionately about the upcoming Invictus Games in 2025. "This year will mark ten years of the Invictus Games. The past decade has been a testament to the power of resilience and the unbreakable spirit you all exemplify. And boy have we had fun on the way.

"The Invictus Games are not just a competition; they're a way of life, a celebration of the human spirit. The games provide a platform for us to showcase your abilities, to inspire the world, and honour the sacrifices of those we have lost."
