Meghan even previously spoke about her first meeting with the singer on her old blog, The Tig, where she described him as a delightful guy, and according to an expert "it seems that their friendship is genuine".

Speaking to Lynn Carratt, a Hollywood guru from Press Box PR, she told The Mirror about the Sussexes' friendship with Michael and his wife, and whether or not she perceives it to be for PR. Speaking to us exclusively, Lynn said: "Although the couple did not attend Meghan and Harry's wedding, it's no surprise that Michael and Lusianna came out to support Harry and Meghan at the launch of the Invictus games when it was on Canadian soil, as he is a nice guy, so while it was a good PR move to help gain publicity for the Invictus games, it wasn’t a calculated one."

She went on to add: "While in Vancouver the couples also went out on a private double date together to the restaurant Vij’s the night before the One Year to Go celebration, where the chef Vikram Vij sat the foursome appeared to be having fun together, so it seems their friendship runs deep and isn’t just for show."

According to PEOPLE, Chef Vikram Vij of Vij’s in Vancouver, Canada, has said that the foursome attended his restaurant, with him revealing that the Sussexes "were extremely friendly and nice". Chatting to the outlet about the couple's double date, Chef Vikram added: "They came and spoke to the kitchen staff, they were very respectful to let me choose the meal as the chef."

He added that Meghan admitted her love of spicy food before he served up "three or four appetisers". He noted how Michael loved mushrooms and Prince Harry loved the kebabs.

Following the starters, the chef prepared a selection of main dishes for the group. He revealed to the outlet how one of the mains he prepared was "a lamb popsicle, which is like a rack of lamb and with marinated mustard and sweet white wine in a fenugreek cream curry".
