A second British man managed to sneak onto a flight at a UK airport without his passport or boarding pass, it has been reported.

The man arrived at Gatwick Airport and hopped on the Norwegian Air flight in the hopes of travelling to Copenhagen, Denmark. Unfortunately for the passenger, staff became suspicious before take-off and he was made to get off the Boeing 737 by police.

It comes shortly after a man allegedly flew from London to New York without any documentation at Heathrow Airport. The latest breach is said to have taken place around noon on February 5. The unnamed passenger evaded checking in and walked straight through the security area and boarding gates.

The man is believed to have "brazenly tailgated" fellow travellers throughout the process and successfully avoided gate staff so he could get on the plane. It has been reported that once he was taken off the flight, passengers had to leave the jet for a short time so a security search could take place.

“The man had no passport or flight ticket but brazenly tailgated other passengers unnoticed through security checkpoints and somehow managed to board the flight at the gate," a source told The Sun. "It’s the second time this has happened recently. There needs to be an immediate review of security.”

A London Gatwick spokesperson told The Mirror: “On 5 February, an individual boarded a flight without authorisation. The individual had been security screened and therefore posed no immediate security risk. Police attended and the individual was removed from the airport.”

Sussex Police confirmed the man was removed from the plane but said this was due to a medical incident at around 12.15pm. A spokesperson said: “Officers supported the airport’s security team and provided assistance to a man following concerns for his welfare. As per standard procedure, passengers were temporarily disembarked while a search was completed. They were then allowed to re-board the aircraft which was then cleared for departure.”

It is believed the man has received no criminal charges due to it being classed as a medical incident. On December 5, last year, Craig Sturt, 46, from Slough, was accused of getting onto a British Airways flight from Heathrow Airport to JFK airport in New York without any documentation. He was arrested on Christmas Day after arriving back in London. He is said to have "tailgated" passengers and secured a set on the flight.

Scotland Yard confirmed he was charged with obtaining services by deception, being unlawfully airside and boarding an aircraft without permission. He remains in custody after he failed to appear for a hearing at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court last month. The Mirror has contacted Sussex Police and Norwegian Air for comment.
