'My wife won't stop using my toothbrush - it's totally revolting to me'

A man has been left outraged after discovering his wife has been using his toothbrush behind his back. He explained how his wife admitted to using his toothbrush from "time to time" - either by accident or when she forgot hers on a trip away.

However, he claims this is "revolting" because he doesn't want to rub her plaque on to his teeth before bed at night. He said: "My wife doesn't understand why I think it is so revolting that she uses my toothbrush from time to time. She says that it is no different to kissing her. I disagree with her on every level of consciousness."

Taking to Reddit, he asked users whether they'd be OK with their significant other using their toothbrush - but he wasn't expecting such a mixed response.

One user said: "I don't care if mine uses my toothbrush. I just asked him and he says he wouldn't care either."

Another user added: "It never has bothered me. I'd let any girl that I have deemed worthy of a sleepover (I'm not very picky) to use my toothbrush. I'm with your wife."

A third user said: "Half the time we can't remember which toothbrush belongs to which person - we don't care."

However, others agreed with the man saying they're "disgusted" at the mere thought of another person using their toothbrush.

One user said: " I've been with my husband for 16 years and it still grosses me out and annoys me when he uses my toothbrush.

"We've talked about it enough times that at this point, I almost feel like he does it on purpose.

"My solution, since talking about it doesn't seem to help, is that I basically hide my toothbrush and I set his out beside the sink.

"I think it's ridiculous that I have to guard my toothbrush but whatever."

Another user added: "I would prefer that my partner not use my toothbrush, and I'd rather not use hers.

"Toothbrushes are meant to clean off bacteria-laden plaque. That's not the same as any saliva that gets transmitted while kissing."

One more user said: "That's disgusting. The point of kissing isn't to get all the nasty s*** off your teeth.

"From a standpoint of only spit germs it wouldn't be gross, but I'm not too keen on cleaning any part of my body with something that has been used by another person even on one occasion."
