Wrexham trio singled out as "huge win" reignites Ryan Reynolds' promotion dream
Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney can still dare to dream of a second consecutive promotion after their team claimed a "huge win" at home against Notts County.
Their season was at risk of falling apart after three straight defeats before they stopped the rot with a much-needed away victory against Sutton United in midweek. They followed that up by beating last year's National League promotion rivals with Steven Fletcher's first-half winner making the difference.
After the game, manager Phil Parkinson was full of praise for former Premier League striker Fletcher and strike partner Mullin for leading from the front. He singled out both frontmen as well as right-back Ryan Barnett, who put the cross into the box which led to the winning goal, in his post-match interview.

Parkinson told the Wrexham club website : “I said to the lads that if they go to a back four, then Cameron would be a centre back on the left and up against Barney. I told them give the ball to Barney (Ryan Barnett) because he is tremendous in those situations.
“He produced some real good quality in the first half and second half and there’s nobody else you want in the box other than Fletch. When it comes to him he’s such a threat. I’m pleased for him but more importantly Fletch and Mulls work for the team really well.
“When you play a team that has such technical ability it’s that five yards of work and detail of when to press and both Fletch and Mulls have the nous of how to do that. Any defensive performance starts from the front, but all in all it was a day where everyone had to do their job. There had to be a concentrated and focused approach and when the moments came we got the goal.”
While it was a tight, tense game, Parkinson was in no doubt as to the importance of the win. The three points moves Wrexham third in the League Two table, three points behind leaders Stockport County but with a game in hand.

“We showed a lot of sides to our game. We looked dangerous at times but probably not enough in the first half; but we had to be disciplined without the ball.
“I thought we were superb in that first half, and in the second half we upped our game in the first 20 minutes. We needed that next goal obviously and we didn’t get, so we knew that Notts were going to throw caution to the wind, and we had to go into that disciplined mindset.
“I thought the lads have put in a real shift today, that was a proper performance and that was a huge win for us.”
