Piers Morgan compared Kai H avertz to Diego Maradona after the German international scored Arsenal's fifth goal in their win over Burnley.

Mikel Arteta's side made the trip to Turf Moor looking to keep pace with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League and delivered by netting five goals for the second away match in a row. Arsenal backed up their 6-0 thumping of West Ham, with another comprehensive victory.

Martin Odegaard opened the scoring after just four minutes against Vincent Kompany's side before a Bukayo Saka brace and Leandro Trossard effort put the Gunners four goals to the good. It was H avertz's effort that drew lofty praise from Arsenal fan Morgan, however.

Former Chelsea star Havertz picked the ball up high on the left when Dara O'Shea switched off before cutting into the box. The 24-year-old then nudged the ball through the legs of Hannes Delcroix at pace and produced a cool finish into the corner.

There was no shortage of praise for his efforts, Morgan chiefly among them. He said on X: "OMG… @kaihavertz29 has just pulled a mini-Maradona.. sensational goal." Morgan later added: "Great performance, Kai.. you’re making a lot of critics, including me, eat our words."

Arteta was pleased to see his team once again show their ruthless side in front of goal. Arsenal have scored two or more goals in each of their Premier League outings in 2024.

The Spaniard said in his post-match press conference: "We are showing a high efficiency in front of goal at the minute. You see the purpose when we’re playing that we always want to play forwards and be a threat.

"The players up front feel really connected at the moment. That’s a different story because it gives us much more tranquillity to finish the games off."

Arteta highlighted that his team are well aware of the importance of goal difference with things tight at the top of the Premier League. The north London side remain two points behind Liverpool.

He added: "We want more and we know how important it is to be up there in the goal difference. Every player that you bring [on], whether it is one minute or 30 minutes, the contribution they are willing to give to the team is really positive. Let's keep doing it."
